I've seen a couple of old posts on this topic, but I'm still stuck. I am trying to get the drive shaft bearing on the chaincase side out of the tunnel. I have beat on it with a pry bar and hammer and it's not moving at all. Any tips?

fz58317 has given you the proper numbers for the puller and installer tools.

I would avoid trying to hammer the bearing out as the risk of cracking the case is high. If you'd prefer not to buy the BRP tools then I would look to using threaded rod and some large washers to remove and install the bearings. A bit of heat on the case and cool the bearings before install will help significantly.

Threaded rod several thick washers, small peice of 2x4 wide enough to span to the edges of the chaincase or flat bar or angle iron, drill a hole in the center for the rod. Washers on the backside of bearing or you can use a peice of flat bar made to fit if washers don't work. You now have a puller. Once you have your homemade puller installed and snug/lined up. Take a heatgun and heat around the bearing area while applying pressure with your puller. It should move. If it doesn't then keep the pressure on it then tap on the back side of the bearing inside the tunnel like you were doing.

Good morning guys, im about to tackle this same job. Unfortunately my chaincase side drive shaft bearing is leaking. I thought it was the chain case drain or gasket, replaced them both no luck. I have ordered the parts and wondering about specialty tools. Can I complete the job with the bearing puller / press philcollins posted? Will any other specialty tools be needed for the job, break side of shaft? Or setting bearing on shaft? Thanks guys 2022 summit 850
