Yep, ran them on my G5 this season. I like them quite a bit better than the old style, they seem to hold their shape better. The formed section is made of a material similar to some of the linq bags, sort of a stiff thin foam. The closures are nice as well, no more Velcro, they use magnets. Makes it much easier to pull them off on a wet day and take them in to dry out. The pin that goes in the end of the bar seems more robust as well. The window in the top seems a bit bigger, but I don’t pay much attention to looking at the controls. I think BRP did a good job on this redesign. I am tempted to update my older style set this year with a new set and sell the used ones.

 

I'll add these to my Xmas wish list. I like that they are a bit stealthy with no label on them.

Do they fit over the handguards or do you have to remove the handguards?

 

I agree with the stealth and just overall better-looking muffs. Plus with no logo I can more easily slap these on my LYNX. I had a couple of wicked cold days last season that these would have been nice for.

Do they fit over the regular or even the mountain hand guards? Or do you need to remove them prior to popping these on? Not that difficult of a task, just wondered.

I have seen lots of Ski-Doo Muffs and LinQ accessories on Cat, Polaris, and Yamaha sleds. This may be partially why.

 

Getting the old ones to seal is a never ending effort. With the bar heat on, if I can seal them, I ride comfortably with a very light glove. But one tiny hole in the seal and it is like a ice poker. I found a solution to the way the pin would never stay in the end of the bar. I tapped out the bar and bolted the muff in place with a set of washers. Overkill but works great. A set of muffs that doesn't leak, priceless. Adding a pair of the new version to my wish list in a few.. Thanks for the thread!!! :- )

 

For anyone wanting the “LYNX” model, even though it doesn’t look different, the part number is in the pic.

 

Never had issues with the older ones on my 19 expedition sport and they will be going on my 24 Renegade XRS 900r.

I don't care what they look like. I wear a thin moto cross style glove and 90% of the time hands are on level 1 and thumb is completely off.

 

How restrictive are these new ones? That was my main issue with the older floppy style.

50% more expensive means 50% more better!

 

Old ones are good, ride at -35c often with average gloves and heat at half or less. New ones do look nice.

 

How restrictive are these new ones? That was my main issue with the older floppy style.

I think the new ones have a bit more room than the older ones. Not sure it’s much, but they do hold their shape better.

As for fitting over the standard handguards, I’m not 100% sure if they would. I tried to fit them on mine, but scrapped the handguards as they hit the mid windshield. I’m thinking that the magnets will not secure if you go over the hand guards.

 

I think I paid around $40 a few years ago for my doo ones. Don't see a good reason to upgrade.

 

Yes and those for sure go over the handguards.

Edit: I just saw a picture of my G4 sled and the old doo muffs actually do NOT go over the hand guards. The muffs sit behind the guards. So they can both be used at the same time at least.

 

The new ones are worth the upgrade on the gen 5. They fit with the stock hand guards, more room, bigger window, magnet seal is way better and longer lasting than the velcro. The old style did not fit on the gen5 nearly as well.

It says these fit Gen5, but when I enter my sled ('24 Renegade Enduro 900R) it then says it doesn't fit my sled. Do these require handguards to fit?

 

I have these for my 21 Renegade. They are much improved from the previous version and fit better with the handguards in place. The old one were not at a good angle with the hooked bars and made it tight to the top of the switches. The new ones are at the proper angle and have more room inside. The new one are not intended to go over the handguards and fit nicely behind them. The hand guard mounted mirrors also still work with these. The openings over the bar and cables seal better and the magnets works great. The only issue I have had is the dart being bigger and hard to get into the grip end when it is cold. When in the warm garage it was no problem. Just be prepared to use a screwdriver or punch to stretch the rubber the first couple times you install them.

 

Would a dab of dish soap help with the dart? Like on the windshield I put a dab of dish soap on to pop into the grommets.

What gloves does everyone run with them? I've never had muffs before, and hand warmth is the one thing I occasionally struggle with. Have the warmest gloves FXR makes which are massive and bulky, presumably with these it's better to get something a bit thinner?

 

Lots of people run with thin, mechanic type gloves from what I hear. Or even a lesser version of what you have but just run heat on low.

I prefer the new ones more room inside and like the magnet vs the velcro. Either will work it's up to you to justify the extra cost. I couldn't find my old ones so needing a new pair I went with the new style. Of corse I ended up finding the old ones....

 

I started with the Klim 2.0 liners but I found that they were a bit too thin for me for spirited riding and my hands would get raw in spots. Had to go slightly thicker palm support. I'll have to check out the 3.0's.

 

What happens if the pin breaks? At least w/ the older version, the 'Christmas trees' are available @ your local auto parts store.

I've been using the muffs on an XS Blizzard since 2019 & wearing Mechanix gloves, even in northern Ontario.

No need for me to upgrade.

 

I really want a set of the new muffs. Problem is, I've grown fond of the finger throttle. BRP says the muffs are a no-no using the finger throttle. Pretty obvious why. I suppose I could bite the bullet and go back to the conventional throttle.

 

BUT… if you use the finger guard (if running the Munster), it could probably be fine. That's what I am going with. That's also why I was wondering about the muffs fitting over a set of regular hand guards, to see if it would hold the muff away from the throttle.

I too would love to see a pic of these behind the handguards. Would really clear up the apparent confusion on if they'll work with the signature or signal LED lights!

 

I love the Klim liner 2.0 gloves with mine. You can ride down to about 0f and still have warm hands, best of all they work with your phone, so no need to take them off when you stop to grab a picture or such.

Are they waterproof? The Doo grip gloves are - and that's pretty important to me.

 

I don’t think they are fully waterproof. I keep a set of Klim fusion gloves in my glove box for anytime I need to get in the snow. The nice thing, they will slip right overtop of the liners. I don’t normally get my gloves in the snow when trail riding. If it is going to snow when riding, I will choose a waterproof set that I have for safe measure.
