I remember I had a 440 DESS replacement piece.
Got rid of the key and went back to the old F chassis plug.

I can't remember where I got it from, but it basically bypassed the need for a DESS key

thats new to me never seen candoo before. but i do have more than a few hours on buds and that is deffinately not an option at the dealer
Agreed, not an option at the dealer and it shouldn't be because we are not supposed to muck around with removing the security system on a Ski-Doo. The OP asked for the new style RF DESS, so that would be the only option imo.

20 year old machines with does-not-start problems between the kill switches and DESS. Which or both is my problem out on the trail?

I'd like to bypass the DESS for sure.

The kill switches, the wires run down under the hood rather than having a local electrical connector, PIA.

the old dess key has to be wiggled every time you start it

Not sure where you are located but I have offer to help some guys on here with key reprogramming, reading codes, etc. I'm sure other guys do the same thing. If you are close to one of us, they may be willing to disable the DESS for you. Your challenge is this.... the DESS is more than an On / Off switch. it is able to allow the sled to start with the wrong key but prevent it from running at a high enough RPM to move the sled. If you look at the schematics, the new RF DESS Post has three wires. Those three wires run directly to the ECM. MrGutz is probably on the right track. You are going to need something that can act like more than an Off / On switch because if you don't disable the DESS security in the ECM, then it is going to keep looking for the "right" DESS key.
Where r you located I have same problem
