Guys I'm looking at getting a set of pro tapers and there is a few different ones available. I want the closest one to the stock ones on my summit now. I want to keep the heated hand grips as well. If Its a Tad bit higher that don't matter because I'm 6 1'. I am looking at the fat bars so I know I would have to get new risers and a pair of J-hooks.. . i need something stronger that the stock ones as i will need a new set for next season) thanks. please help me out because i don't want to get a set that i don't like

The stock summits now are based of the RSI Backcountry Bend I'm 5'7/8ish relatively short and I run a 4 inch riser because the bars have around a 3-3.5inch rise on them so I'm just under the stock summit height of 8 inches.

You can get adapters for the fat bars instead of going with new risers too. It'll give you that extra little bit of rise also. You'll need to order new hand grips, heaters, and cork for your new bars, will be hard to salvage the ones currently on it. Better to leave it all intact for when you sell the machine stick the OEM back on and keep your aftermarket bars for your new machine.

Im going to get the fly "Sno X Mountain Bend" carbon fiber bars and go with the fly 7/8" to 1 - 1/8" bar clamps. not sure yet on the grips but will I just get new heater pads from brp? I will also get 90 deg. bends for the ends. I might try OEM hand grips to slide over it all to. thanks

Does anyone know if the fly mini bend bars are the same width as stock or wider? I want an aftermarket fat bar for next year but i dont want them wider then stock...?
RSI Backcountry bars which the stock set up is based off and Fly Mini's are both right around the 29inch mark if they are two wide just cut them down? The only problem is if you have the stock control block this makes things challenging as it can't be mounted on the bars so must be relocated like on the riser or dash etc.

You guys realize you can cut the ends of your bars off to make em as wide as you want right? I have had to do it with a couple diff sets. Just make sure u do it before you install em. I used a sawsall and while they were installed and i could not get them to stay sturdy enough they just kept vibrating like a mother. So i took em off layed em on my steps outside put my foot on em and hacked away. Works like a charm.

I know i can cut the bar ends but some bars dont allow you to cut very much off depending on where it bends. Even though you get rid of the switch block the brake lever is still the same length therefore the grip still has to be relatively in the same place as if the switch block was there. Had this issue with a set of kermaxx bars on my 04 rev. They were too wide and i Could only cut so much off, even deleted the switch block and it did not help much, ended up getting the stock skidoo freeride bars because they have a tighter bend and longer straight bar. But for my 14' summit xm (sp) i want to go with an aftermarket bar.

what are you all using for aftermarket switches? would like to clean up the bars...
Why not just relocate the switch block down to the risers? It's out of the way and doesn't require any rewiring at all. As far as bar choice it's personal preference if you didn't like the stock freeride bars you wouldn't like the RSI backcountry bars but I for some reason thought the Fly Mini's are a bit narrower yet..

I have pro taper contours also and they are the same width as stock but because its a 1 1/8" bar it sits about 1-2" higher but width wise its just a touch longer then the stock bars. They are strong bars I'm 6' and 265 lbs I've bent the stock ones, 440x bars off my old rev but these ones are like new cause they're thicker. I would though not put stock warmers on them, even with cork, grip tape or rubber grips they dont seem to radiate the heat like the stock bars. I used a digital scan thermometer on them on these bars and 440x bars, same grips same element (just didnt glue them on) and 15 degrees difference..... now there done (burnt out) gonna try some heat demons
