Folks. I charted most of the used 900 Ace Ski Doo sleds on FB this morning, 500 mile radius from Alpena, Michigan.

I picked up a 2016 900na MXZ with 2800 miles in October 2023 for $6,000. I did not know if it was a good deal at the time but I knew the sleds history and it was sitting most of its life. It was less than 30 minutes away from my house.

I think people will have a short memory and come fall, used prices will be back up to near normal with anticipation of winter. People still don't want to believe our winters are going away

I cant even believe what I am seeing on the web for sale right now. 2016-2020 Arctic Cat ZR 800's in the $4500-$7500 range. Several examples with less than 1000 miles on them and they are not selling. A 2020 is a fairly late model and some guys are dropping their drawers every few days hoping to sell and they are not selling. This is an incredible opportunity if a guy has the cash to buy a pre owned sled now way below market and hold until next season to ride. Of course the dealer has something to offer that a pre owned sled does not and that is financing and the option to snow check a new sled for next season with only $500 down and 2 or 4 year warranty.

Some hard work and some nice data, nice work

I truly believe were getting to the back before COVID prices phase of life. Still some hold outs but nice to see some prices that make for sense nowadays

As for the ac comment, I sold my 17 600 procross with in a few hours of listing to a Illinois dealer (Aug 2022) for what I paid for it (7400ish) new on the floor from the dealer (wi) in Jan of 18'. They sold it for 9k I guess. I've seen the prices you're seeing now, i feel bad for the ones that paid that a few years ago

I was going to put this chart together a few months ago. There were not enough 900 Ace sleds to make it meaningful. Now the site is chuck full of 900 Ace sleds. The chart is for about 45 sleds. Just those listed in the title as having 900 Ace engines. If I dug, probably could have easily come up with a dozen more. Expect the actual sale prices are going to trend lower quickly

Sanity may come back to the used sled market.
If we look at things reasonably, a two stroke 800 or 850 has 10,000 km in it before it needs $3-5k worth of work. A 4 stroke engine will fare better.
A dollar per Km in depreciation was my number, from new. Roughly. Those numbers changed when snowmobiles exceeded 20’k new, My 22 was about $22,000.
My personal opinion is, I don’t look at any snowmobile with more than 8000 km and consider it reliable.
like a new one.
There are exceptions for sure, but some of the older “high mileage” sleds were selling for stupid money.

Voo: You have a good point. However, with older Ace engines, the engine needs very little attention regardless of how many miles.

If most of the folks on here are like me, then they want a nice tight suspension system. They want the steering to be responsive, with shocks that work. Regardless on which engine.

I was looking, now I am in two minds.

I was considering a XS Renegade with 6,000 or more miles. Figured it would have the original skis and had never had the Mainway or Rip and Grip up-grade. I was figuring $3,500 for skis, carbides and the Mainway / Grip n Rip "package". Possibly another $500 for a "new to me track". Add ~$500 for Linq rings, helmet plugs, possibly a belt, LED headlights, some bogy wheel bearings and service for a clutch set. And the sled would be easily good for another 10,000+ miles. If I added a serious front bumper, service the shocks, toss in a full belly pan, then $500 more.
Or essentially $5,000 over the cost of the sled.

But the risk of an other warm winter has caused me to pause. And the desire to ride a Gen 4 over a XS is tempting.

If I could find a Rev Gen 4 for close to $4,000, then I would be all in for between $8,000 and $9,000. Mileage would not be an issue if the sled had stayed "shiny side up" and had not been friendly with a tree or a rock. That is around the point I've now been thinking. But. This last winter was a total bust. I have three sleds. XS 120" MXZ 600 Ace, XS 120" MXZ 900 Ace and a XU WT Skandic 600 Ace. Generally take friends riding, not family. The plan was to trade up the Skandic for a Renegade 900 Ace Gen 4. We shall see.

This year 900 ace transactions in my world Northeastern Vermont:
1. Dec 23: My club friends sold an original owner 2014 900 ace tnt fully serviced for $3800. They gave me a $100 for sending them a buyer before listing it. Beginning of the season deal! Should have bought it ugh!
2. Riding bud got out sport: Sold wife's grand touring 900 ace with goodies $7500. Sold his 900 Ace Renegade with GPS etc all bags $6500. Sold 2019 Nitro trailer $3950! Moved to Florida.
3. End of February: Friend bought a 2019 Renegade 900 na from Roberts in Malone NY for 5k fully serviced. He had called about another sled off fb marketplace that was sold and the owner offered him that one.
4. Anddddd...I just missed a 2022 Renegade 900 ace na fully serviced at Al's Snowmobile with 4800 miles fully serviced, beautiful! Listed for 7995. would entertain offers sold in 3 days. Snooze you lose.
I look only because I bought a 2016 Blizzard 900 ace na new in no snow 15/16 season for $9200 now has 14k. Just replaced my dupont slides that lasted 12k miles lol and still looked OK, but this season stunk so bad didn't want to chance it. Otherwise trouble free. I really like it in the 129 xs chassis though it's a back up sled now.
Good luck with search. When you find a deal jump on it. They don't last long.

I have noticed for what ever reason sleds in Wisconsin are priced cheaper than sleds in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana or PA. My hunch is Wisconsin is logistically a little harder to get to in order to pick up a used sled. Deal are out there all over the place you just have to look. Here is just one example that I came across. Not my ad or anyone one I know.

I have two snowmobiles for sale. A 2022 ZR RR8000 and a ZR6000. Arctic Cats 60th year anniversary. The 8000 has about close to 800 miles on it and the 6000 has about 200 miles on it. Package deal for 20,000.
