I am looking for a reliable, powerful sled and can buy the above for 800 Canadian. Here's what the owner said about it,

It has the new style front skis from a 2000+ Skidoo with carbide grips for ice. The pull start was replaced last year. Previous owner rebuilt the motor in 2019 with new pistons and gaskets. Clutch was upgraded at the same time. The studded track was installed by the previous owner as well. Primer squirter was replaced. Has ownership. Carbs recently replaced and balanced.

Thoughts on this sled? Not too familiar with it, thanks in advance.

Far too many variables to know for sure. As mentioned above, is it a Mach 1 that would be a PRS chassis or is it a Mach Z with the triple swapped out for a 670 - which is very possible.

We are talking an almost 30 years old sled, it could be a good one or it could be nothing but a headache. Best case scenario, if everything you have been told is true, it could be a good sled for that budget - $800 is very low for todays used snowmobile market. Just realize what you are getting into, a very old sled. Be realistic as far as your expectations of reliability, and be ready to work on it.

If no electric start, it will be very hard to pull over unless someone upgraded the recoil. Expect it also to be hard on gas. Pictures would help.

Like already posted, this could be either a 1994 Mach 1 or a 1994 Mach Z that had the original triple replaced with a 670. However, "clutch upgraded" and "carbs replaced" has me hesitant...My impression is that the owner does not really know what he is talking about. There is no "upgrade" for the OEM TRA clutch, but there are cheaper replacement options once the TRA grenades. Also, unless we are talking about a heavily modified racing engine, nobody really "replaces" carbs. They can be cleaned, repaired and restored, but replacing the entire carburetor is definitely not the norm.

Did somebody assemble that…collection of parts…just to mess with the minds of the vintage nuts…?

Skis, console and snow flap are obviously way off, donated from more recent models. After that it get’s more interesting.

Is that a purple belly pan painted black…? Or the opposite…?

And a 670 with a black head suggests a very early 670. But…correct me if I’m wrong, but those don’t bolt straight into the F-chassis…? Could be re-sprayed, but still weird…

The sway bar linkage and the rear bumper suggests it’s for sure not a 1994, but more like a 1997…But those don’t have that brake…And the poor fitting handle bar pad suggests it’s the earlier 1993-1995 handlebar…

It has no front bumper caps, but if the rear bumper caps are good, it’s still a bargain at $800 because those are also on the list of unobtainable parts…

The OP mentioned wanting a “reliable” sled. Just stay far far away from this mess.

Granted 800 bucks Canadian does not get you much these days. The guy is not overpricing it if it runs ok, but certainly not something a newbie should buy with expectations of a good reliable sled.

Alatalo, don’t think the early 670 ( if thats even what it is) would be a problem to go in the F chassis, its going the other way that sometimes won’t work.

I’m not even to rack my brain to figure a guess of what this is!
