I bit the bullet and bought the ripsaw 2 1.5 over the cobra earlier in December because I came across a good deal. All I can say is Holy "edit for bad language" it grips hard! The conditions were loose and wet snow, but it just grabs and goes no matter what I was in. Haven't seen powder yet, but I will give another update when I get a chance. In the end I'm very, very pleased with this track so far. I dropped 1 tooth and have a Cudney clutch kit(not installed yet). If you want an upgrade over the stock ripsaw, this is the track to get.

How stiff are the lugs? Maybe a vid to show?
the lugs are reasonably firm

i absolutely love my rip 2 1.5", it hooks up like a champ on all on trail conditions, whether it is hard pack or ungroomed trails.. i had the rip 1 1.5" and this one is much better overall with a little less bite when cornering which is also a plus cause it helps with less front end push in corners and little looser rear end when desired

Are you guys running studs or no studs in the 1.5 Rip 2?

Im thinking about the ripsaw 2 1.5 did you lose any top end pull? do your clutches run hotter? have you noticed MPG drop? , I'm still on the fence with deep lug track i know every one talks trash about the rip 1 1.25 but it is a fast trail track with top end pushing over 100mph pretty easy.

I did drop one tooth so I may lose 3-6 mph on top because of that plus the deeper lug. I didn't ride super long but it was almost 32 degrees when I rode, and nothing acted up or got hot. I'd say go with a ripsaw 2 1 inch or 1.25 if you're still concerned, the lug design is amazing on these tracks and on your 800 xrs it would pull HARD. It has fantastic grip and the 1.25 probably wouldn't effect anything on top end. Imo, one of the best tracks to buy. Huge upgrade over the original ripsaw.

Did you notice any negative effects from dropping a tooth like a increase in rpm while trail riding.

I had no issues with dropping a tooth. BUT, my sled is a 500ss so an etec or sdi might be a different story. I talked to Bill Cudney before getting the track and he recommended dropping the tooth and purchasing his kit so the sled would pull the bigger lugs and reduce stress on the engine. I haven't even gotten his kit in yet and the sled pulls like crazy with this new track.

I've been up in the air on what track to buy after driving a freeride but decided that a 1.75 is probably not ideal for a majority of the riding I do so I'm sticking with a 1.25. I just bought a clutch kit for my '15 800 shorty from Reed's Racing and I'm about to order a rip II 1.25 after hearing nothing but great things. I found it online for $475 shipped, should I be looking elsewhere to save a few more dollars?

As far as studs go, I'm still up in the air about that. I hear a lot of people running 1.630 triggers in this track but I'm a little skeptical on running that long of a stud. Woody's also makes a 1.450 trigger which might be a little more practical for my type of riding which is mostly aggressive trail. The next question would be can I get away with 126 or is 168 necessary? I would like to be able to hook up on the lake if I get a chance to run someone for fun.

I would check out Tracks For Less or Snow City, I got mine from Snow City at a great price and it was at my house in about three days. Just throwing my opinion out there, the 1.5 has pretty stiff lugs and grips hard without studs, plus the deeper lug may be an advantage off trail. Yes the 1.5 version will be more expensive, but if you don't beat the piss out of it it will last for a very long time. I have been very impressed with it on my shorty 500ss, I couldn't imagine what it would be capable of on your 800.
