So I have an older RC snowmobile and I was thinking about putting a Nitro motor in it to make it faster. Does anyone know where I can buy the motor/kit to put in it? I have saw some videos and they look pretty cool. Let me know where I can find them. Thanks.

Check out this page. Guy builds alot of replica rc sleds. Claims they handle alot like the real sled since they are all designed the same.

Why not convert it to a new brushless system found in the fastest rc cars today? Nitro is slow and alot of maintenance, brushless is way more power and torque, and very low maintenance. Just charge the battery an go.

Should be able to find a motor with the same demensions that will bolt in, and buy the kit with the ESC and all u will need is a radio for it, and battery pack.

Put a traxxas 3.3 in it. Best and most reliable engine. Run great in the cold too with just a sock on the heatsink. Those 4.6 motors are horrible in the cold. I had a picco .28 (by ofna) in a truck and it had tons of power, but was the worst engine ive ever had. The 3.3 seems small, but it rips, i love it! Got 3 of em at the moment and there great, wheelies, 65mph+, easy starting (sits all winter with proper storage, primed good, and fires up right away!) Easy to tune etc etc! The list goes on and on how much i love these little motors. The 2.5R is alittle less powerful, but absolutely indestructible and even easier to tune etc etc!!!! The 2.5, stay away from it, not so good, runs pretty good in the cold cause it keeps the temps but i have had one blow up on me lol. But yeah, throw a 3.3 in it and it will be more then happy. If the chassis will allow it.

Ohhh your going electric...i was talking nitro. Yes traxxas may be expensive, but trust me you get what you pay for! Well i dont know what all you have, but you will need but to go brushless you will need a motor and esc. There are lots of "kits" or "packages" out there. Traxxas' stuff is all water proof which is awesome! Castle creations, losi, hpi, and many more make brushless kits as well but there not all water proof. Like i said im not sure what you all need, but buying a motor and esc combo is usually cheaper. Lipos are also an pretty much a musy have with these motors. nimhs and nicads arnt nearly as good. I mean theres endless possibilites when it comes to setting up a rig. Just depends on how much your willing to spend. Heck you could put 1-2k into somethinng like this easy in electronics, batteries, chargers etc.

Yeah most companies offer kits with a motor and esc together, I'm not sure but they may come with a radio and receiver also. I know u can build your own rc cars from a kit so they should sell all the electronics together I would think. You will probably also need to upgrade the steering servo to work with the new receiver.

yeah. I just have the regular RC no mods. I can easily water proof it and that isnt my problem. I just want to but an actual motor/electric(faster) motor in it.

Well if you just want it faster, then throw in a brushless combo, by a basic cheap lipo charger, a basic lipo, and make sure that the drive train can handle the power, Or, buy a better brushed motor and better battery.
