hi guys, so im wondering whats the diffrence, i can here in town get a decent brand kit of probe and the guage for about 100$, then i see theres probs and i dont know if there for snowmobiles, i search in google snowmobile pyrometers or snowmobile egt gauges and stuff and they want 300$ for a "quick responding" probe and stuff, so not sure the diffrence/s if it really matters at all?

do a google on type K thermocouples, certian types of alloys respond differently than others, as long as your gauge or dial
can read type "K" TC you can pretty much use whatever you want, as long as you can mount them in the pipe.

IE: Stainless steel, Inconel, they have different max temps and reaction times.

Remember, 90% of things for Sleds are adapted from some sort of Aircraft, Automotive, or industrial application, so whoever decides the product works and fits a market can dictate the price.. so they grab a $5 TypeK for something (high temp oven control maybe) that has treads.. puts it in a package and says Skidoo 800 pyrometer kit, only $450 with probes

get it? lol

Type K TC = TypeK Thermocouple..
The pyrometer is the gauge that reads the TC ( thermocouple) some are mechanical and some are electric, normally TC's that are type K are elctric they send a milivolt signal to the gauge, works the same as a temp gauge for water but much higher remperatures, up to 1500deg or higher depending on alloy.
just industry slago

TC, pyro, turb, dezang bezang cha cha chee zang.. lol i'm off to bed, later guys.

just some more Geeky stuff for you.

Thermocouple: A thermocouple is a thermoelectric device used to measure temperatures accurately, especially ones consisting of two dissimilar metals joined so that a potential difference generated between the contact points measures the temperature.
