Has anyone successfully done this without splitting the cases? I have a 2015 freeride which has the plate retainer unlike the older 500ss motor... is there still an internal lip on the seal that will be difficult to place back in? I’ve heard yes and no to this... I have 3800kms now and was thinking of checking it out and repacking the bearing.

I did my brothers 2011 and my 2013 etec 800 last season. The seal is held in place by the outer steel plate. The seal only goes half way into the case. Easy to do. Remove clutch, remove 4 Phillips head screws, clean the bearing out with clean rag. Grease the bearing, place grease on the inside surface of the seal. [emoji106]

I did my mag side at the same time as the PTO. It's much more involved. I had to make a flywheel holder for removing and torquing the flywheel retaining nut. I removed two stator mounting bolts then used a syringe with a small hose to inject the isoflex.
Doing my PTO side this weekend. How was the Mag side compared to the PTO side as far as amount of grease left and how much it was broken down ?

Just did this on my 15 xrs. 5300 miles and i was shocked how little grease was left in there.

used a syringe with a blunt needle tip to inject it inside the ball retainer and then put some on the outside. new seal and closed it back up.

Its got me thinking i should look at the mag side.

Did my 2009 600 etec PTO & Mag when it had about 5000 miles on it over 10,000 miles on it now, sled is a loaner sled now doesn't see much use anymore.

Saw this thread - I was packing my pto bearing with new isoflex and replacing the seal. Old seal came off fairly easy - flat blade screwdriver on edge. I was confused putting new seal on as I thought I had to press it in past the little ridge that is on the edge of the seal and could not get it in that far at all. Now thinking I don't need to do that at all and just had press in evenly by hand and put retainer cover back on and that cover will keep it from backing out ? Is that correct ? I saw comments elsewhere that some were using pvc pipe piece to tap it in ? Bit confused what SkidDoo recommends here - wish I had a shop service manual. And those original style screws can get rounded out easily - I went right out and got same stainless screws in proper size with Allen head.
