Third ride with my new O2 Matte black. I new it would take some time to adjust, but the shield has such a distortion to it I can't use it safely to operate my sled. I do wear glasses, unfortunately I can't use them with this helmet due to fogging, that's not my main concern.

The distortion in the shield is significant, I notified my dealer for a new shield. For now back to my old modular.

I hope it works out, as I do like the field of view and sound deafening.

If you're having your glasses fog up something isn't correct. We have 6 oxygens in our group and no one has had there glasses fog up.

Matte Black 2020 vintage with 2 rides, nothing below 15 degrees F.

No noticeable distortion.
The shield is not "clear", it has slight gray color in the dual pane area.
I turn it on full and then back the temp down as things settle in after a long stop/break
I keep the shield open when I stop/talk and cracked for a couple minutes after re starting or when working up a sweat on trail.
It's notably lighter and quieter than my mod 3.
More to follow after a 7 day trip.
So far would not return.

I completely agree, my dealer ordered a new shield for me. I'll post up on how it works out. Do you wear a bacalava with your O2?

My solution to fogging glasses was contact lenses.

The glasses would remain fog free, until you stopped. If you kept the shield closed, they fogged up, if you opened the shield you had to keep it partially opened while riding for about 10 minutes until the glasses climatized again and you could then close the shield.

By far this has been one of the best helmets I have ever owned. Comfortable, light, quiet, good field of view, etc. I like using the eLinq connection and I now have the eLinq/ESS adapter on the sled.

My only and its a minimal gripe, is that you can't take a drink with it on.

Has anyone experienced fogging or moisture on the inside lens. To minimize it I have to ride with the lens slightly cracked. On colder days the moisture freezes up because the lens needs to stay cracked. Is this normal or is the seal on my lens broken.

A few interesting observations from this past weekend regarding Oxygen Helmets:

  • Ran into an a guy who was complaining about his new oxygen helmet fogging up. Turns out bought a new sled and helmet and dealer never told him it is absolutely necessary to use the power cord (not optional like old heated visors).
  • Have a friend who bought one last year that didn't know about the vents under the chin (didn't read manual???)
  • Rode with a fried on mine who is using an Oxygen on a 2011 ski doo. On that sled, the helmet RCA plug is wired such that it only has power when the engine is above 2,500 or so RPM (much like the hand warmers on that machine) so the helmet stops "heating" when stopped or going extremely slow.

I rode 175 miles last weekend without a single issue, except for when I was riding across a lake and night, about 20 miles into the ride, my visor started to get blurry enough I had to stop. I have never had a problem before with this helmet. I started thinking about these postings, but then realized that somehow the cord came off the back of my helmet. Plugged it back on and a minute later, everything was fine.

So I started thinking maybe those who are having problems are actually experiencing some electrical related problems?

Lastly, I have logged over 500 miles this year with my new oxygen helmet in all kinds of conditions. I have no complaints except that it can be too warm at times, but I just turn down the control and crack the visor. That being said, I woke up this morning to -31F air temp and plan on riding tonight, so I'll be taking full advantage of the air-tight warmth this helmet offers.

Best of luck to everyone else...… Oh and one more thing, I have the 2V0 visor on my 2021 helmet.... Maybe that's the difference!?

Don't blame the customer. Seems to be a dootalk thing.
New visor might be better, maybe brp will offer it to all owners free of cost

I had my new shied installed. No more distortion problems. My glasses no longer fog once they transition to the temperature either. Win...Win! If your having problems with the shield, like I had and many others take it back to the dealer. Mine was aware that there is a problem with the shield distorting on 2021 Oxygen helmets. It's warranteed.

Good luck!

My wife and I tried them on at a dealer and neither of us liked the way they fit us... We ended up with castleX helmets with heated shields for 1/3 the price. We really wanted to like the oxygen helmet. Wife requested a special trip to the dealer just to see one and try it on. The Castle X helmets aren't perfect either, not sure if any helmet is but they are warm, quiet, clear and don't fog up.. Field of view is far better w/ the oxygen helmet though

I have a BV2S and have never tried an Oxygen. This being said, even though some move from the BV2S to the Oxygen and like it better, I am not so sure I would ever be happy with it. I hear comments like 'I keep the shield cracked until I am moving',' I don't take it off outside', 'it takes a long time to unfog/frost after you plug in the cord', etc.... seems way to finicky for me. Also, I hate having to screw around with a cord. I just rode all day last Sunday in around 0 degree F weather with me BV2S w/o an electric shield and never had so much as a hint of anything but crystal clear vision all day. I never had to worry about cracking it, taking it off or not outside, making sure my plug was in securely, etc..... We did a lot of stopping because we had a big group and everyone with a heated shield had to deal with unplugging/plugging in a cord over and over. I love and will keep my BV2S, thank you.

Also, Diesel Pro, it sounds like my face is built like yours. I had a modular before and the breath box was up against the front of the helmet. I have plenty of room on the BV2S.

I have three BV2s helmets sitting in my closet that haven't been used now for three seasons. Both my wife and I agree that the Oxygen helmets are far superior to the Bv2s helmets. The vision is very large and clear and no mouth piece on your face with frozen icicles hanging from it. Helmets are warm, fog free and even riding at night there is no distortion. With the new Elinq dess connector hooking and unhooking the electric shield is now a breeze. The oxygen is also much better for using our Uclear communicators.

Everyone I talk to who owns an Oxygen helmet loves them. The only complaints I know of are right here on Doo Talk.

I have only used my Oxygen helmet once this year, and it was so warm inside, I had to keep the shield cracked open. I went back to my Modular 3 helmet and could better manage the heat buildup. I like the expanded view in the shield and it is reduces outside noise better than any other helmet I have ever worn, but not sure I will keep it. As far as complaints only being on Doo Talk, the Oxygen helmet is a BRP Skidoo product and this is a very popular site, so I would expect to see opinions posted here more than any other place...

Have you taken off the little rubber "breath deflector" that velcros to the front? If I take that off I can drink a full pint glass with my helmet on. Did it last weekend! The little piece just velcros off and on real easy while wearing the helmet.

Was there a number change or just a luck of the draw bad batch?

My wife and myself love our oxygen helmets and they are best helmets we've had in over 50 years of riding . But all I tell everyone from are own experience's wearing glasses witch they are a PITA . We have both realized that when you take the helmet off and then put it back on when your ready to ride , you need to get it plugged in right away and needs to be on high and the shield needs to be closed completely and stays closed and the deflector needs to be in place to hold all the heat in the helmet , so your glasses don't fog . We have both found this helps a bunch . Everybody thinks you need to crack open that face shield and to us that's a big no no . Because when you open that shield there's a big area for cold air to enter and your glasses are going to fog big time . Also even the shield itself can have issues if you don't keep that heat inside the helmet, keep it shut and keep that heat inside and it works great. .
