I had it on the lowest heat setting, but the outdoor temps were 32-34 that day, which made it worse for interior helmet heat. Below zero temps this weekend, so I will try it again to see how it feels.

Did you try turning it down , You could have a bad control .

I'm getting better acquainted with it now and I'm not quite so concerned. What I do see is I can fog the shield. Mostly down low, but occasionally up top. This may happen when the sun visor is down, but not sure. Not too big a deal, but moisture droplets leave dots behind when they clear. My riding was in single digits to sub zero f this weekend. I did have a period where on high it got a bit warm inside from the shield being on high.

Notes:

I build a lot of moisture inside and end up with frost in the outer hinge area.

Vents are OK, but are too difficult to operate and really would be nice to have a half open setting. I like to have them open, but it seems that when it is really cold out they chill my cheeks.

Shield latch is way to difficult to operate both latching and unlatching. Seemed simple enough in the store, but it's become a 2 hand job with bare hands to get it to click in and out.

Venting: I wonder if a guy could maybe try adding a discharge vent in the rear cover that holds the light and Linq plug?

UPDATE: I wore the helmet both days this past weekend with low temps around -15 and highs around -2. When I kept the heat on high, the shield stayed clear, but my face felt warm (almost hot) and the air was dry when breathing. Middle temp worked pretty good, but would end up seeing water dripping down my shield, so would adjust to high setting again. I don't think this helmet is the right type for me and will probably sell it.

I find the colder it gets the harder it is to open, I think its caused by the plastic latch on the helmet getting less flexible when it's cold.

I just filed away half the thickness of the bump on the face shield to reduce the resistance. I'll see how that works.

For those finding it too warm, try having the front neck gator outside of your jacket instead of tucked in. This also helps reduce the moisture build up

One small step that I took was I removed the spacer foam from the ear muff part. Feels much more comfortable now.

Rode over 200 miles last weekend with the Oxygen Helmet during the day and night. So glad I had it. Temps were between -10F and -20F (actual air temp). No fogging problems and the heat felt good - i actually had to close one vent for the first time.

The other comment I would make is that if you are a very aggressive rider and riding tight/twisty trails and your head starts to sweat, the visor can fog up a little, but cracking it open does the trick. I rode for years with BV2S helmets, and I could fog them up from sweating as well, however the same solution - crack the visor open for a bit and clear it up.

Just like any other piece of equipment, there is no single helmet that is perfect for every conceivable condition. But for cold weather and long distance riding, I don't know of a better helmet than the Oxygen. If someone rides like a snocross racer, they probably need a snocross helmet....

Last note, I believe many of the problems people are experiencing are with the older visors. I have the 2V0 version.

Yup, I get that too. It is a severe terrarium situation inside the helmet, and those breath drops do dry on the shield. So the biggest deal with this helmet is that is has a great big field of vision, but after an hour or so of riding my shield is usually not completely clear. I have a microfiber built into my FXR jacket that I am using throughout the day to clear up the shield.

Like you said, it's definitely not perfect and won't work for everyone, but for me it's the best helmet I've had. Unfortunately that doesn't say much, as they've all pretty much sucked.

I've rode with mine a few times now, including on a below zero day and the warmth inside the helmet is great. So is the quietness...love it and don't have to crank the earbuds loud anymore when i want to hear music. I would recommend a neck gaiter if a subzero trail riding day.

But the shield itself did get some fog on the inside during the day, and I wasn't even riding hard or or sweating. Amber lens easily clears if flipped back up for a few minutes. So I found myself cracking the shield open at intersections/stops so I didn't fog over.

Removed shield and cleaned with soap/water and antifog spray and see how it goes on the next ride. It was a MAJOR PAIN getting the shield back on the helmet. Easy to snap on one side, but getting both tabs to click back down on the other side and without breaking the plastic tabs *&^*&%&^% my wife heard me clear down in the basement from the upstairs bedroom lol hopefully the catcrap will minimize the fogging better.

If l were to buy a used Oxygen, is the warranty transferable if l have the previous owners original receipt?

I have 2 backpack trips, 1800 miles with this helmet. Rode in -20 temps early in the morning up to the 20s during the day. Helmet is very warm and it doesn't fog once you are underway. It is so warm that I ride with the visor cracked most of the time, (I wear glasses) It took me awhile to get used to it after having several modular helmets. I removed the breath guard because it fogged my glasses and I wanted to be able to eat or get a drink of water without having to remove the helmet. The best part and primary reason I went with the oxygen is the field of vision it provides, no comparison to other helmets.
Because of the design of the visor it does not let in alot of cold air at the bottom like the other helmets so riding with it cracked a bit is no problem even at sub 0 temps.

:righton :)

Does removing the breath deflector help keep your glasses clear? I can get mine clear after awhile with cracking and closing the shield but when it gets close to zero or below I struggled to get them clear. I actually ended up taking them off because I was riding with a group and it was slowing me down.

When I first wore the helmet, my glasses would fog every time we stopped and I had to remove them, I removed the breath deflector, no more fogging at stops. And no fogging with the shield closed once you are moving.

Same here I have the breath deflector removed also and I wear glasses>>>>Only problem I have is I forget to attach the cord to the back of the helmet and wonder why I am fogging>>>>have done that 2 times and finally realize what is going on>>>>Sometimes it is hard for me to fix stupid>>>>Live and learn I guess>>>Otherwise a great helmet>>>

Is there a good trick to snapping the shield open and shut? I seem to be struggling with that issue. My glasses will clear off the fog while riding with shield cracked, I'll have to stop to snap shut, then they fog again. If I could snap shut while riding, I'm thinking that would stop that problem.....

I have no problem opening or shutting the visor with one hand. Required skill with this helmet for sure.
