It wouod be a tank IMHO. The problem with electric that has yet to be overcome is weight. The batteries and motor would most certainly need advancements in technology before it could be a viable product. The model and animation are well executed though. Would like to see an overview of hypothetical specifications.

I really don't think it would be that heavy compared some of the new sleds because now you don't have the engine, carbs, pipe, can, clutches, chaincase and jackshaft just the batteries and electric motor.

Power is from 22 lithium ion battery packs. The 96-volt motor has a power output of 23 bhp, but two new 140-volt motors could offer more than 75 bhp and a 6.6 kw charge would last six hours, Wyeth says Sled weight is 220 pounds with batteries installed!!!

I like it and wanna ride it.... Electrical is instant HP... No more clicker adjustments to make sure you are in the prime RPM range.

Looks a lot like the Hot Wheels concept sled (my son has a few). It's a cool looking sled and kinda reminds me of the Redline prototypes as well. They're going to need to work on the range for battery charge though. 6 hours wouldn't be nearly enough for the day long trips we take! Also, how well will the batteries work with extreme cold?

Electric snowmobile would be wierd. Especially since you'll be able to hear the deer forking in the woods as you buzz through the trails.

6 hrs is actually not bad. But those Li ion batteries lose their max charge capacity quick don't they? By the end of the season you might be lucky to see 4 hrs? Cool idea though. Those wings look kind of ridiculous on the skis though, what are those suppose to help with? Flotation in powder? That'd be the first thing to break. Pretty interesting work and design though. Would be sweet to see a prototype being field tested soon.

The batteries prob get hot drawing all that current. The animation is great in that video, the sled looks cool even if they put a motor in it..
