Long track sleds in short bed trucks.

I don't want to buy another trailer this year because it is a PITA for me to store it. I am buying a Renegade 850 and am planning on just throwing it in the bed of my Sierra crew shortbox with a Ski Doo cover when I wanna go. I have been shopping for a ramp and am thinking that I am going to go with the Caliber ramp so I can use it for quads too. Not sure if I like the idea of all that weight on the tailgate though? Anyone have issues with that?

I was thinking I could load up the sled and get one of those bed extenders that are adjustable like the one shown below to lift the track up an inch or tow and strap it in.

Any pictures or opinions you guys can share would be great.

I had a 137" Renegade with a 5.5' ford f150, no issues at all. It's a bigger box with the gate down :) I have a 146" coming and will be doing the same thing. I have the same caliber ramp too, awesome ramp, don't hesitate to get that ramp!

Cool. Do you have or use the extra traction ladder thing when loading or just hit it fast?

No extra traction ladder... don't even have to hit it fast either, just keep it steady, people tend to feather it up the ramp and sometimes they get hung up if you do that then they hit it harder and go right through the window lol... I've been using a ramp for a few years now, slow and steady wins :)
I'm picking it up next Monday. Let you guys know how it goes!

Plywood is a good idea. Carbides dug into my LineX and tore out a couple of chunks on the tailgate...
Yeah. I found out destructive they are last year when they tore up the beautiful epoxy floor in my garage. I got a sheet of pressure treated plywood and cut it into three pieces with hinges so it folds up when the tailgate is closed. Unfolded it protects the tailgate and folds over the edge to protect the gate top cover too.
