Little bit wider skis?

I have the DS2 ski on my Expy Sport 900...looking for a little more floatation off trail. Maybe a 70/30 off trail to on trail ratio rider here, so my choice has to be decent on trail, not great. A friend suggested Polaris Pro Float skis. Seems blasphemous!????. Any reviews or thoughts on these skis, or other suggestions? Thanks!

I have C and A xt’s on my Cat turbo and they work very well even off trail on a heavy front end like it has.. I shaved the centre keel down to about one inch and gave it a bit of rocker. They stick like glue on the trail and allow me to ride around off trail if I have to, and the steering is as light as a pilot 6.9 except when your doing a 3 pt turn on a narrow trail and can’t go off it for the trees. 141” track. Good suggestions above.

505074670 Black, Racing Ski

is the 600rs ski

505074776

Deep Black, LH Ski

is the 850 xrs ski

the acces book lists the pilot R as Part # 505 074 183

I'm confused

which sled gets that 7.25 new pilot R ski ? and which part number is it ?

Thanks
The only sled that gets the pilot r 7.25" width is the 600rs. Does not come on any consumer models from the factory. These are not new btw, several years old.

Bought a set of new pilot R's off a race team last year ... they said they don't use them because the front loop breaks on contact, they use C&A pros, a sponsor of theirs, got the brand new never used pair with carbides for $150 :Cheers

have them with 7.5 shapers on my 2016 1200 .. they are much better overall than the 6.9 IMHO, a noticeable improvement. 100% better than the 5.7's

I like single keel skis, the duals have too much float on loose snow

They are a pretty carbon copy of the C&A XT ski, although the keel may be a bit shallower.

The XT is an awfulllll lot of ski to be trail riding with. Especially on a 1200 lol. The XTX was a bit shallower keel and I ran those on the revs and free rides I had. I like a ski that turns, and don't complain about heavy steering. Most people complain my sleds steer to heavy.

The DS2 isn't a terrible ski, I prefer the Grippers from Polaris over it though. The DS3s are a bit better. I guess it all comes down to what you actually want. You mention flotation, but I would ask what makes you think you want/need more than with the DS2? Many times it comes down to sled setup. Most people that trail ride have lots of front ski pressure, with a setup like this it will never feel like you are floating. For example, I run a Summit 850 with an adjustable limiter strap. When shortened the front end is planted decent enough to get down a trail. When extended, skis only touch the ground when breaks are applied.

Summary of above, if the sled feels heavy in snow; check your setup before dropping $300+ on skis, thinking this will fix the problem.

Reason many of us back country riders change skis is to get better sidehilling. Different profiles will do different things. The DS2 is a junk ski for hard sidehilling. That's where the Gripper comes into play. The DS3 with the RAS 3 front end is a decent setup though.

Do they still make the pilot 6.9 skis ?

I see ski skins 6.9 in the accessory catalogue , but that isn't the skis ,

My ski on my new sled is like 5.250 ish , I think I may need a little wider , but I'm not sure yet as I haven't ran it yet .

I'm thinking the Pilot R ski ( RS ski ) at 7.25 will be to wide and to aggressive but I'm not sure .

Sled is mzz 129

If you want the 6.9's you just need to buy the pieces individually (ski, hoop, hardware).
