TTT is this something a dealer could tell me? Seems some dealers don't know they're a$$ from a hole in the ground, either that or they're too lazy to help you.

Are you sure the plate with the serial #s doesn't have the CC's listed? My 670 does. The only other thing you could do is pull the head off - and measure the size of the bore 76mm on the 583 and 78mm on the 670 (stock anyway). But I'm sure you already know that

lol yeah I know what the engines are, and bore x stroke is on the engine id tag. I just need to know what model year they are. They're are differences in the crank seals throughout the model years, the kit I got for the 583 had the wrong mag seal so I could only replace one. I'm sure thats gonna bite me in the rear next year when I run it. So I just want to make sure I get the right seals for the 670 and if any future rebuild of the 583 I get the right ones for that.

 

The numbers and or bar code is for the manufacture only during assembly , you could check the casting number under the base the last two numbers are the year the base was made model year would be the next year fallowing.

 

Alright now we're getting somewhere! by "under the base" do you mean on the bottom of the case? or under the base gasket area? If so I'd guess it'd have to be on the exhaust side? I already put the 583 back in the sled, but haven't started on the 670 yet.

The engine serial is just a number assigned by rotax. The higher the number the newer the motor. It has no sequence as to year or type. you can call brp and give them the number and they should be able to tell you what year sled it was installed in.
