It does look pretty neat.

Wonder if someone will make an aftermarket can for it. Those big electric motors can put out some noise

Honda did some research and development on snowmobiles in the 80's and found there wasn't enough money in it. That concept has been out for at least 10 years. But the range would probably be very short if they ever made one.

They gave up on PWC's after a short time. Bummer cause' Honda makes some great stuff.. I always laugh when I see/hear a fart can on a Honda civic/crx.

My best buddie's family used to own a Honda shop here in town back in the 70's through the 80's. His dad received 1 out of 5 Honda prototype snowmobiles to test out back in the day, but Honda never went through with them and requested them back to be recycled/demolished. He still has the owners manual to one of these Honda snowmobiles. It's pretty neat!

They must have not done much research! At one time, there was about 200 different Snowmobile companies in the world making Sleds to Copy idea's/designs from. Honda, has the Resources to Design, and Manufacture a Sled to compete in the market, with Dealerships/Service Centers, already in place around some of the world. Theirs 8 Billion+ People in this World, in 225 Country's! If you knew, what it really cost these Corporations to Produce a Sled, a Motorcycle, a Jet Ski, a Car, a Truck, etc., it would make you PUKE! Marketing their Products, is the mother of all evils, for all Companies, Big, and Small. When is the last time you saw any Sled commercial on TV? There are fewer, and fewer Power Sport Dealerships, each year. These Sled Companies answer to poor Sales, is to try to force their Dealers to buy more of there over priced Sleds, when a lot of them, still have many of last years Sleds they couldn't sell yet. My local Power Sport guy use to carry all 4 Brands, now just two for that reason.

Nobody, really needs a Sled that does 100 mph+ for any Trail Riding, what 99.9% of the Buying Public, really does with their Sled. Most Sleds, with just 100hp will do 100mph+. Sleds, Jet Skies, Motor Cycles, Boats, Hover Craft, ATVs, Go Karts, are Toys, not really needed for most People to Survive in this world. It is a low Profit Margin Market, compared to some Products.

A Sled that cost say $600 Retail in 1970, today should cost $3,660.87, not $12,000+.

Minimum wage in 1975, when I was is high school, was $2.10, in 2014 dollars that's $9.24hr. I made $3.50hr at Winabaggo RV Factory in 1975 right out of high school. That's $7280 a year for a 40hr work week in 1975.

My new 1990 Suburban cost me $18,600, in 2001 dollars, based off that $18,600, a new 2001, should have cost $25,188.98, I paid $38,400 in 2001.

My New 2001 Chevy Suburban that cost me $38,400, in 2014 dollars it should have cost $51,359.67. They wanted $65,700+. Based on the 1990 dollars cost of $18,600, a 2014 should have cost $33,690.05. Now do we want to feel sorry for the Big three?

A 582UL Base Ultralight engine cost $5600 today. They were higher. That's basically a Skidoo 580/582 engine from the early 90s. Difference is a dual plug head, and ignition. The bottom end price of Sleds is probably around $5800.

That's like saying In 1979, I made $50,000 on the railroad, in 2013 dollars, that would be $160,438.71, in 2013 dollars, I made $90,400 in 2013. But I did work less days in 2013, than in 1979.

yes . but that was long before the 80s , and while there may be money too be made or have been , Honda has never gone into something lightly . and you know what they say " the difference between men and boys is the price of the toys."
