Just received a gasket set sold as Winderosa brand, one that I've come to know as exceptional high quality gaskets and seals...BUT (and a big butt ) the display card backing the blister pack now says "Vertex" brand and the quality of the contents is OUT THE WINDOW...no way can I accept the cheesy gaskets and seals that were contained within. Apparently, Winderosa sold several of it's product lines to careless Vertex Company of Taiwan.

Goes back to the seller and I'm heartbroken that I have to either buy one piece at a time or search around for a substitute kit that I'll stuff in my machine and call "dependable" out there at something-below zero. :frozen:

Yet another manufacturer that gained the confidence of the buying public only to betray them with a cheap copycat product way below and quality control standard at the same price level thinking they did a win-win.

Big mistake, this is a LOOSE-LOOSE Winderosa. :headbang

Good bye :explosion:

Loose loose?

You can buy OEM if you prefer.
I am sure you know you can't get OEM for any of the older sleds.( though in this case I am assuming it's for a 98 so MAYBE). BRP is really behind a lot of other manufacturers as far as having replacement parts for older sleds. I was able to get OEM parts for a late 80s Yamaha last year no problem. Try that at your BRP dealer. Even if they could access them through Vintagparts or Fullertons they are not likely to bother.

Too bad if this is the case though, It's tough finding parts for older sleds. Kimpex has gotten to be quite limited and if Winderosa is now lower quality, another blow to keeping the old sleds going.

Was being sarcastic, as we all know what OEM gaskets cost piece by piece, IF even available.

We gotta be realistic- a package of jobber gaskets that will rebuild an entire engine and sells for $20, is asking a lot. I find them slightly better than the old days, but still have to trim, and use liquid gaskets periodically. I would never have called Winderosa "high quality", but certainly sufficient, available, and cost effective.

But definitely notify manuf/supplier/retailer if bad batches are coming through, and hopefully they'll then improve their quality.

I wouldn't panic. When I first saw the Vertex, I thought it was just rebranded Winderosa stuff. Even now I see them advertised as Vertex-Winderosa. I can't imagine them being that bad, will have to see I guess.

Do we think they closed down the manufacturing plant and are being made somewhere else, or did they just get bought out and are under a new name? I would suspect the latter but just my guess without any info.

All I know is I always get nervous looking at a sled with a Winderosa sticker, will have to start looking out for Vertex now. Sure sign of a home grown half rebuild[emoji23] If you want a good used sled, it has to have Monster Energy stickers.

Metal Mullisha/Monster Energy/Rockstar decals, a sick wrap, and a loud can guarantees the machine was lovingly maintained by a qualified wrench.... :)

For anything other then sleds...try Vesrah gasket.. B.S.L distribute them... Japan made good quality.....IF only lookin for a price buy cvtech homebrand hpp....taiwan made they are ok..but really cheap...like a zr900 full set gasket at cost price was 16$ xd....
I have bought BSL rings before from Dave Gosselin, do they make any gasket sets? What about Cometic, always heard they were good, do they have a limited product line or?

I did some checking on Vertex, they seem to be a reputable name in motorcycle parts, and are the OEM piston supplier for KTM. I am surprised they would sell a totally crap product. Hopefully not another company that built a good reputation going to selling cheap junk.

Well Dave is truly the guy to go to for older sleds.....Every single years is buying old stuff left over from cvtech...dealers that are closing and such...hes awesome....As for bsl they distribute dont make anything....but they are truly handy and carry different stuff than kimpex....And lastly yeah Vertex is one of the few repuable o.e.m cast piston provider....I doubt too taht they would sell junk.......

Use Evinrude Gasket Sealing compound and you can use paper or cardboard for gaskets. (I don't, but you could).

Brother blew a water jacket gasket on his boat motor when we were way up river. We cut a new gasket from a 12 pack soda box and used the Evinrude Gasket Sealing Compound. He drove the boat for another 150 hours before he finally decided to to a full rebuild and replace the gasket. He said when it pulled it apart, the soda box held up better than a lot of gaskets he's used. LOL.

I've put two snowmobile motors together with it and they are holding up really well. Easy to clean off than the RTV.
