Not really when alot of people still don't want to fork out the extra cash for old stock parts off a G4. When you're paying 25% more for a Gen 5 for old stock parts and a extra motor mount, I don't think anyone with a Gen 4 is complaining  :ROFLMAO:
To agree, It was a soft/subtle refreshing of the Gen 4, yes.

But you are also paying for/getting new panels/and a more modern and smooth look. Much improved and vastly superior lighting. The Motor mount as you stated. Better clutch cooling and clutch alignment(due to the extra mount), and an overall sophistication of the whole machine(quieter and less harshness and vibration). So if you take all that into consideration, it certainly is an improvement of an already very good and solid sled. Win win imo.

That's a tough argument... a more modern smooth look is subjective, I personally do not like the look of the new sleds, many guys say they're much colder to ride because of the refined panels and the medium windshield is just not enough wind protection. The lighting, there is a current thread on here talking about the new LED lighting in comparison to the SII Bulbs, which is an upgrade from the G4 halogens but is not as bright as SII aftermarket bulbs that most guys put in the G4 so I suppose the G5 gets a half point there. I can agree on the motor mount and better clutch cooling but whose actually dropping an extra $3k because they been waiting for 3 years for Skidoo to FINALLY improve the clutching cooling and call it the all new GEN5, Its a marketing scam. The vibration? common.. that's another piece of boloney, yes the gen4 vibrates at idol, but it's nothing noticeable while riding and certainly doesn't justify a Gen 5 title. I am just ranting because I cant believe guys are buying into the BS Skidoo is putting down the last couple years. This will now become the new norm like golf clubs and Iphones, slap a new logo and charge them more because the people are too stupid to know the difference.

Beau you are right on. I owned 5 different G4's before the G5 came out and I never would have said they needed more refinement. Some people even say they are too refined (boring). The brighter headlight is welcomed and so is the stronger brake that's offered on some of the G5's. But they could have easily added those to G4. To me the G5 is one step forward and 2 steps back. I think the new LH switch and console plastic look cheap, exactly like you'd see on an Arctic Cat. The headlight ugly. The new plastic is sleeker but it makes me cringe (maybe that's more the headlight than the plastic itself??) The 2 piece driveshaft... I would opt out of that if possible. People who don't ride Doo like to say the ergos are bad and the handling sucks. The G5 didn't address either of these complaints. So between what Doo did do and what they didn't do, I just don't have any interest in G5.

Hey, to each their own. I hated the look of the gen 5 when it first came out last year, but it’s grown on me, and seeing one in Person it looks pretty dam nice to me. I’ll take what Doo is putting out currently. Nothing I’d rather go with from the other two manufacturers, cuz if there was I would try one.

But then yet it would take another year to perfect it!
We all buy a new sled when we’re ready to buy…if one is always continually/perpetually waiting for the next best thing(s), you’ll never buy a new machine. Things change incrementally most times….a new motor, a new turbocharger added to a motor, a new meth injection system, a new suspension, new brakes, new gauge, new lights….and sometimes a whole new chassis(that sometimes as you said, needs a few years to perfect). So my point is, if you’re always waiting for this and that, and for this and that to be perfected….you’ll never buy a new sled.

I have a ‘21 MXZ XRS 850….I love the sled, and was planning on keeping it another 2-3 yrs at least. Then they announced the 850 Turbo R, and that announcement/sled with all that is new, got me to jump. Sure I can wait and see what happens for ‘25 and ‘26 and ‘27….but when that time comes, I could say, ahhh I’ll wait til ‘28 to see what that brings lol. I think we get the idea. I liked what I saw for ‘24 in the new Turbo R 850, and I’m looking forward to the upcoming season with high excitement because of this.

They see us all coming! I thought I had my perfect sleep last year but the service shop has been the true owner of it. That's the reason for coming back home

They see us all coming! I thought I had the perfect sled for myself last year. Come to find out, the service shop was the true owner. That is the reason I'm coming back home for this next year...

lol…

so what did you have last year?
I currently have a 2023 Polaris Matrix VR1 137-in 650. It was delivered to me with a very high idle. RPM is ranging 2200-2400. I thought it was part of a break-in thing, told them about it at the inspection after the break-in and it came back to me the same condition. I then contacted the service department yet again to mention it and they said bring it back in. When they could not bring the idle speed down they started talking about an air leak? Kind of sounds like it was leaning out for 850 miles? I haven't gotten it back yet. Polaris is not being of any help either! Let's not forget the last two months have been empowerment for other season Riders like waverunners, boats, ATVs and motorcycles etc etc. Let's say it's going to cost lots of money and I'm extremely unhappy.

So this is not covered under warranty? You’d think it should be…sled isn’t even a year old yet.

G4 switch on left side superior to G5 .
Everything on G5 better, Medium windshield with Oxygen helmet is quite effective.
G5 is more quite and smooth. Hood removal is easier. The ability to energise the gauge without starting the motor another plus.
I energize the gauge to look at the map all the time on my 22 mxzrs with the big gauge. Pretty sure (it’s summer ya know) all I do is hit the starter with the tether unplugged.

Is it just me or did anyone else feel their G5 pushed in the corners way more than their G4? mid to high speed sweeping corners our G5 gade x with 8" carbides and 1.5" track with 96 studs pushes like no other. RAS X on least transfer setting, suspension set up very well and pushes like crazy. Same set up on the G4 sled from a prior year and I can go much quicker through the high speed twistys. Also I am sure others have noticed that all the Doo XC racers, irondog racers, ambassadors and skidoo marketing team people all post pictures with the Lynx Blade skis on their sleds to help with the turning capability. G5.5 hopefully brings a more playful rear skid and the Blade skis.
Koreyk, i did notice that my G5 pushed more than my G4. 2023 from a 2021. 850 xrs renny.
I played around a lot with the suspension on the G5 but found no matter what it still did not handle as well as my G4.
Tried DS2 skis, and even bought C&A xcs skis.
Ended up liking the DS2 skis the best and kept them on for majority of the season.

Eventually I added a 1/8 "shim" of UHMW plastic between the keel bottom and carbide to add more keel depth.
I think that will be a big help, but unfortunately the season came to an end and I didnt get much test time with that set up.

Did you ever come up with a solution for the G5 push?

FLASHBACK---The 2003 800 rev(beaver tail) was also a love hate looker and very overpriced. They said it will never hold up, piece of ugly crap, It will overheat, tail won't handle the bumps. Look were that first rev has taken us! CHANGE IS GOOD!!!!

Look up "snowmobileusa.com" pick of the 2025 mxz, this is a drastic change :)

prolly an AI pic. look how curved the skis are and the ski loops look like an unrealistic design. if they're plastic, they're gonna break and if metal they're gonna bend.

My view is that Gen 5 offers several changes that I found to be improvements after a season of riding one. It offered a new look which I personally like. It offered the 10" screen which admittedly was a little glitchy, but overall, I like the integration and it's a feature that I'll continue to order. The LED headlight was a big improvement and while some of the aftermarket bulbs in the G4's were equally bright, I felt that the G5 housing does a better job of projecting the light being that the housing was designed LED and bulb specific. But the thing I like most about the G5 was that it was (as many have pointed out) more or less a G4 refresh somewhat similar to the move from XP to XS. The motors, the suspension and the chassis are all pretty much proven commodities, but in a sled with a new look that differentiates itself from a 2017. With a newly designed engine or other major change, there will always be an issue or two that don't become apparent until the sleds are in widespread use for a year or two. In buying a model refresh, you tend to avoid those issues.

Blade ski's from a Lynx with a ski shim that we cut out from 16 gauge steel helped. Still pushes more than the G4 sitting in the garage next to it.
