Rather than hijack the GPS Shopping thread...

I'm surprised to see this comment, I have used Google Earth and Garmin together for years, for work and pleasure. The track feature is a great tool for doing preliminary work on Forest Access Roads, Transmission Lines, new Snowmobile Trails for the local club. I draw trail on the map, use the graph feature to check profile and if I'm happy, from there download it to my handheld unit and do the field work. All in conjunction with Basecamp.
I looked it up online & found info on how to import tracks or waypoints from your device.

I tried it and for some reason Google Earth Pro does not recognise my Montana 700.

I don't connect or access my phone, watch or GPS via Google Earth Pro.
When connected to your PC, can you access / save any .kml .gpx or .kmz files?
If so, if you can see em there, then just drag them to my places in google Earth pro

I love Google earth pro for the visuals, although i think it sucks for the lack of editing my trails/paths,
for those parts i use Garmin Basecamp

I utilize Basecamp when working with Google rather than a straight transfer. Files that I want to use on Google, I export from Basecamp and save on my computer, then from Google I import the files from my computer. For a track or waypoint that I have created in Google it is the opposite, export to my computer, import into Basecamp and send to my GPS. Like I stated in the shopping tread, I have created tracks in Google for proposed Forest Access Roads and Transmission line access, used the track profile tool to see slopes. Transferred it to my handheld and on to the field for final location. I'm actually getting ready to do a 10 km reroute for the local snowmobile club using this process.

OK it worked. Export your track to Downloads. It will be a .gpx file. Using GPSBabel @ www.gpsvisualizer.com convert it to a .kml file. In your download folder, find the file & right click on it. Select Open & it will be displayed on Google Earth Pro.

Thanks for helping guys. I know in the past there was a simpler method. When it no longer worked, I hadn't heard of a workaround.

Discussing the situation between Garmin & Google Earth over @ advrider.com:

The Basecamp↔Earth link was through the Google API, which was very cheap and allowed quite a lot of free queries. Garmin paid for that access, but it was inconsequential. Then, once everyone was hooked on the nifty satellite views (2018?), Bezos needed a new yacht, so Google drastically raised the price of using their API. Many previously free programs had to stop using the API because of the increased cost, Basecamp was one. Furkot was another, their explanation at the time is here:
