It's just bad luck if you're between the L and the XL, that's what separates the two different shell sizes. The carbon L only lists something like 50g lighter than the standard helmet so it's really not worth it for the weight savings.

You might like the CKX Contact better; no mask and it's quite a bit lighter.
I agree; the price difference between the fiberglass and the carbon didn't seem worth it for the slight weight savings. I've never tried on a Mission since no one sells them around me. I'm hoping one of them fits better than the other overall, then I can adjust the cheek pads as necessary.

I have both the Mission and Titan in Carbon and have to agree, while the Titan has a noticeable weight difference from the carbon to the standard model its not nearly as evident between the standard and carbon Mission. I suspect the extra chub is necessary to make it DOT compliant.
Regardless, if you're a weight weenie there are plenty of lighter options out there but i'm not aware of any control breath like the Mission.

I've had the Titan in carbon for 2 seasons and absolutely love it, but I prefer goggles and swapping lenses depending on light conditions. I have a heated lens but still haven't even tried it. Never once had a fogging issue without. CKX makes great helmets.

I also have 3 extra pairs of the 210 goggles and put the goggle mounts on other helmets for family/friends. This is ideal for me because I can swap lenses on mine without changing frames, and these goggles work great on most other helmets without fogging.

I'm going to keep the large Mission and return the XL. The cheek pads feel a bit tight, but other than that, it fits very well with a thin balaclava. I'll replace the cheek pads if they don't "wear in" and feel tight after trying it this weekend. Appreciate y'alls help!

I have the CKX Mission AMS Helmet with an electric shield. I have been wearing it for five seasons now. Main reason I purchased it is that so I can wear my glasses while riding. I have ridden a total of 11000 miles from -30 degrees Fahrenheit to freezing rain. with 3/16 of ice accumulated on the sled and helmet. The shield did not freeze up. My glasses will fog if stand around in the cold and when I shut the shield and first take off on the sled. What I do to help with this is I have my shield wired right to the battery using the E LinQ system so when stop and the sled not running the shield stays warm. When I start riding, I crack the shield clears the fog out then I am all set to go. I do not wear a face mask now. I started off using it and then one day it came loose when I opened the shield to talk, I was lazy and did not re-install it. I found without it my glass cleared up faster than when I’m not using it. I don’t use the mask at all, I really don’t like cords. But with the E LinQ system and running the cord through my jacket I can live with it so I can have the benefit of wearing my glasses. For me it’s a very warm helmet. I do wear a Balaclava under it. It is not as quiet as the Oxygen helmet that I have owned before, but not as noisy as some of the other ones I tried in the past. Main benefit of this helmet is I don’t have to have the heated shield plug in to ride with my glasses. The oxygen helmet that I had if the cord broke or blew a fuse on a backpack trip where screwed the shield would automatic fog up. If something happens to this helmet, I will replace it with the same one.
So you don't use the rubber insert that comes down at all? Took the whole thing out? But you do use the heated shield?

I have the same helmet. Used to wear contacts with it to ride and didn't really need the heated shield. Multifocal contacts suck and I don't see as well. Last 2 times out I tried riding with my glasses. Worked great except for when first starting out as you mentioned. Helmet shield didn't fog but my glasses did. I plugged in and also cracked the shield to start like you. If I'm understanding you correctly, I may pull the insert and see what that does.

Yes I don't use the rubber breather box. I do use the heated shield when it's below freezing. When it gets above freezing I unplug the shield. It will take a little longer to for my glasses to clear up with the shield not heated but not bad with the shield crack. That is why I like my mission over the oxygen helmet.

I tell everyone.. "It'll change your life!"

Seriously is the Rev equivalent to helmet design.
Gotta agree with you!!! I wear glasses and they do not fog using this helmet. Game changer!! I have the electric shield but have never plugged it in. One of the best snowmobile accessories I ever purchased.

Change out cheek pads lg are stock 30mm
I've owned a couple Missions now and also sold them for a few years as well at shows.
Another solution is to remove the cheek pads and lay them flat on the floor and put something nice and heavy on them for a couple of days. They'll flatten out a bit from the weight. I have a home audio tower speaker that I lay on its side on top of the cheek pads and it works great!

One issue with them - they’re weak in a crash. A buddy who’s a paramedic attended a recent sled fatality. Mission helmet was split open like a pumpkin apparently. Any helmet that can’t pass a Snell or ECE test, is a no go for me. As much as convenience & gadgets are nice to have, a helmet should be protecting what’s left of my noggin. 😏
They're one of the better helmets in the industry - especially with lame modular helmet designs. At least the CKX still has a chin bar when the helmet is opened. I remember there used to be a video on Youtube with the BV2S. A guy simply whacked it with a baseball bat (not even a full swing) and the entire front of the BV2S shattered into a ton of pieces and offered ZERO protection of your entire jaw and teeth. The Mission fares WAY better in frontal impacts -vs- a lot of other modular helmets out there. I wouldn't even wear a fully opening modular personally.

I’m on year 4 with mine with heated shield. I have glasses and it works great. Depending on if I work up a sweat, my glasses will fog once I stop and get started again, but just crack the shield and cool off and away we go again. I do wear a balaclava, but I’m not blessed with a head of hair so that’s my reason to wear one and probably part of the sweat issue, but I run hot typically. Best helmet ever, I’ve installed a LJE light kit on mine this year and hear nothing but greatness of how well the little red light works on it.
I tried to remove the side vent to put my lje mission helmet light on but the stock vent cover said nope, not gonna happen old man.

Been running mission helmets for years now and they’ve been great. tried the Photochromic shield the other day and instantly regretted it. cut my ride short and fired that shield directly in the garbage when i got back. put A normal clear shield on and its still mint

Well, pull it out of the trash and sell it to me for $25. $25 you didn’t have!

Update - I’ve now ridden in conditions ranging from light drizzle through negative temps. The helmet performed well in all of these. A few notes: I did need to plug it in when riding in negative temps as there was some ice forming on the upper corners. Plugging in solved the problem quickly. I also will look into those alt cheek pads for less face squishing 😂. It’s comfy, but those cheek pads are indeed thick.

I think the tight cheek pads help the rear exhaust vents work better. Just a thought I had because mine are tight too. It kind of forces the hot air out only those 2 holes.

It’s a good point. Guess I could always try both and see if I immediately regret the swap 😅. Thanks for this!

So I finally bought a mission, and tried it out yesterday. Works well, love the magnetic cord, as so far breather box is out. Only question i do have , is yesterday is was overcast ......should I have seen an darkening of the shield, as its supposedly the photochromic one? I took shield off , but do t see any numbers anywhere? I want to make sure someone hasn't switched it. Doesn't seem to tint at all, but maybe it was because of being overcast?
