Love mine. RIde with my glasses and an open face balaclava. Only helmet I have tried I can wear my glasses. Tried the Mod 2 and BV2S and always had to wear my contacts.

I picked up a 2021-produced CKX Mission modular helmet on steep clearance discount this week and took it on a morning rip. It’s got a heated visor, built in breather, sun shade, and adjustable visor. And honestly, it looks pretty sick.

Let me start with this: I have never met a modular helmet that I’ve liked. Skidoo Oxygen? Fogged up on me allll the time. Skidoo Exome? It’s ok….but the breather is clunky and straight up inconvenient. HJC? Don’t even try, this thing will fog up faster than I hit bumps on a Saturday at 3pm on Tug Hill, no redeeming qualities of that brand. I’m a motocross helmet and goggles guy because nothing messes up my day more than a fogging helmet lens.

So here I am, ready to be hurt again. All because I can’t turn down a good clearance sale.

The first impression? Incredible helmet. This is the first breath management system that isn’t a huge pain in the rear. There’s no gas mask-style attachment, no suffocating yourself with those moisture absorbers. The helmet uses an honestly brilliant breather that folds down onto your cheek bones/nose when you lower the shield. It’s seamless, easy to adjust on the fly, and kept me fog-free on a morning of 40 degree woods twisties riding, which normally takes a modular helmet out immediately. I’m someone who hates the skidoo Exome or oxygen breathers. And this isn’t bad at all, in fact, I prefer it to the balaclava over my face using a motocross helmet.

Field of view is great, comfort is pretty good. Honestly, my only complaint is that it runs a tad small and I had to size up. Otherwise, wow. Where has this helmet been my whole riding life?!

Next week looks a lot colder, let’s see how this bad boy does when it’s single digits outside

Bought one last year after running a CKX Tranz for 3-4 years, and love it. The only problem with the Tranz was it was cold. I've never plugged in either one so far. -27 in Northern Maine a few years ago and never plugged the Tranz in.

This is not a dig on the Titan or other helmets. There are some of us that cannot wear these kinds of helmets, I'm a perfect example. I started out riding in the 60's with an open helmet, then went with the bubble shield add which didn't work. I ended up using goggles with the helmet. I've been wear mx helmets ever since with goggles. I've tried the Titan and others, but as soon as I put them on I had to get it off, call it claustrophobic or what I don't know. I can go into small areas no problem, I just can't have anything confining around my face like modular helmets. I currently wear a MX helmet with a Klim balaclava and goggles with YouZee inserts. My son is the same way, start out riding with full face helmet. He tried on my wife's MX helmet and been using one ever since. Said that he will always use MX helmets. It's up you to decide which is best for you.

Do most of you with Glasses wear the rubber breath deflector or do you remove. I don’t wear glasses and don’t use the deflector but I have a friend with glasses that is thinking about getting a mission and didn’t know if he could go without the deflector or not

I wear glasses and never use the deflector. If it's a decision between the deflector and plugging in, I'll plug in every time.

I know it's just me, but I can't stand the feeling of anything around my mouth, regardless of the glasses.

Having said that, I've yet to need the cord. The only time I've fogged up so far is at a stop. That's without the deflector or electric plugin, and wearing glasses.

I LOVE this helmet.

Had mine for a year-and-a-half now. Absolutely love it. It has added such color and sexyness to our helmet rack since I put it up there in September of 2023. Really adds a "pop" to the view. Looks just perfect hanging there. Some day, when we have rideable snow on the ground, I'm gonna take it off the hook, put it on my head, and wear it when I take my snowmobile out for a ride. That's gonna be really awesome.

I have a different take on this helmet. I just tried it this past weekend. Paid $600 for the carbon fiber one. I would think it would be light. It's not. I actually ordered two a large and an XL. When I measured my head I was right in between. The large was very very tight and the XL felt better but not perfect. It was a little big in the back of the helmet and the cheek pads were so big and squeezed my cheeks and was uncomfortable. Also the physical size difference of the large and the XL is very noticable. I have always worn open face helmet and goggles and will go back to that. The breath deflector is set perfect but it makes me feel claustrophobic and I feel like I cant breath when we stop and I dont put the viser up. I am glad you guys are so happy with yours but this is just my take. With that being said it anyone wants a Mission carbon fiber 2025 model. I will sell it very cheap. Only used last weekend. Perfect condition.

I’m not going to sit here and say you should try different cheek pads or other things to make it work for you. It’s a helmet and they are all not one size fits all for people. It’s like the Oxygen, some love it some hate it or open face helmets with goggles, I can’t do the Oxygen because it’s too hot for me and goggles I just have problems with them. I for one love my Mission, 4 years going now with it, but I do wish there was a test drive session for helmets rather than buy it then dump it for cheap if it doesn’t work. I’m glad we have choices, but it can get expensive.

I understand for American's wanting a CKX that can be an issue being they're a Canadian company and i've heard that in store availability isn't really a thing to our cousins from the south.
That being said, there is just too much to sort out with gear for me to buy online. Let alone the dismal prospects of not supporting your local shops.

One issue with them - they’re weak in a crash. A buddy who’s a paramedic attended a recent sled fatality. Mission helmet was split open like a pumpkin apparently. Any helmet that can’t pass a Snell or ECE test, is a no go for me. As much as convenience & gadgets are nice to have, a helmet should be protecting what’s left of my noggin. 😏

Are they any good with glasses? I was in the same situation and I tryed a ckx titan and love it great helmet As I where my glasses inside my goggles,, I’m nervous to try another modular helmet with glasses and have my glasses fog up
I have the CKX Mission AMS Helmet with an electric shield. I have been wearing it for five seasons now. Main reason I purchased it is that so I can wear my glasses while riding. I have ridden a total of 11000 miles from -30 degrees Fahrenheit to freezing rain. with 3/16 of ice accumulated on the sled and helmet. The shield did not freeze up. My glasses will fog if stand around in the cold and when I shut the shield and first take off on the sled. What I do to help with this is I have my shield wired right to the battery using the E LinQ system so when stop and the sled not running the shield stays warm. When I start riding, I crack the shield clears the fog out then I am all set to go. I do not wear a face mask now. I started off using it and then one day it came loose when I opened the shield to talk, I was lazy and did not re-install it. I found without it my glass cleared up faster than when I’m not using it. I don’t use the mask at all, I really don’t like cords. But with the E LinQ system and running the cord through my jacket I can live with it so I can have the benefit of wearing my glasses. For me it’s a very warm helmet. I do wear a Balaclava under it. It is not as quiet as the Oxygen helmet that I have owned before, but not as noisy as some of the other ones I tried in the past. Main benefit of this helmet is I don’t have to have the heated shield plug in to ride with my glasses. The oxygen helmet that I had if the cord broke or blew a fuse on a backpack trip where screwed the shield would automatic fog up. If something happens to this helmet, I will replace it with the same one.

I am torn between trying an Oxygen or a Mission for colder weather and mainly fast trail riding days. I am generally pretty warm with my current MX-style helmet when it's not super cold, so I think the Oxygen will be too warm for me.

No one near me sells the Missions, so I can't try them on. I'm coming from a large 509 Altitude 2.0 helmet, and I'd like to know if the sizes are comparable. Does anyone have any insight on whether they run large or small?

My mission helmet is the same size as the other brands I've worn. Order one from Dennis Kirk. They have a great return policy and fast shipping.

It's just bad luck if you're between the L and the XL, that's what separates the two different shell sizes. The carbon L only lists something like 50g lighter than the standard helmet so it's really not worth it for the weight savings.

You might like the CKX Contact better; no mask and it's quite a bit lighter.
