wondering if anyone has adapted a small snow plow to the front of a snowmobile. I just saw that the new arctic cat utility machine (z1 xt) has a front receiver and snow plow unit available, and am considering trying to weld/fabricate some sort of plow for my skandic swt 503. 2002 thanks in advance

I seem to have enough trouble trying to stay on top of the snow , let alone go through it ! An SWT on light snow could probably do it , but it seems like a barbaric way to treat a machine like that , mounting a lift and adding a BIG electrical load . How about you send me your SWT and I'll send you my back up snow plow ?!

Maybe I should have explained how I want to use it. In trying to put in quality sled dog trails up here in AK, we often times get large dumps of snow that is a PITA to renovate, then pack down. Especially hard to pack down when it is extremely dry snow. I've used a homemade plow, made from plywood to drag behind the grooming machine, and it works ok, but the idea of putting it in front of the machine kind of appealed to me. I realize most snow trail users are usually looking FOR snow, not trying to get rid of it, so this is really a kind of unique situation. For plowing the parking lot, I use my F-250, works just fine.

Find an old canning rack from a cannery, the metal ones that hold the product, and put a couple old tires in it and drag the trail. Works like a champ and the snow stays a lot longer when the weather warms up.

That is the coolest thing I have seen in a while... With regards to the roller idea. We use a roller after big dumps that is made out of a 16" or so culvert by 60" or so. Painted to prevent rusting. It helps take the air out of the snow. After that we use a ginzugroomer that has electically controled knives that help finish the trail + comb. After a cold night it sets up really hard. This is all pulled behind a SWT.
