Hello All, I'm new to this forum and a new Ski-Dooo owner. I just picked up a new 2005 MXZ Renegade 600 HO SDI. I rode it around the front of my property about 6 times ( less than 1/2 mile) and smelled someting odd . I stopped the sled and saw that there was some white smoke or steam rising from the very front left of the sle. I opened it up to try and locate the ( melting plastic I think) smell and couldn't find the exact location although it was somewhere near the exhaust pipe. I then tried to restart it once (electric start) and nothing. I tried once more and got a big backfire from the right side of the sled. The gas looked very low ( on the red line) so I added some more gas and tried to restart. The engine turned over fine but no ignition whatsoever. I took out the plugs which were wet, cleaned them with carbeurator cleaner and dried them. Then I manually pulled the engine over 20 or so times with the ignition off and plugs still out. I reinserted the plugs and it started right away but ran for only 30-45 seconds. Then it just stopped like it was getting no gas. I did check the plugs and was getting spark. I did this 3 more times with exactly the same results. I also tried venting the tank by opening the gas cap slightly on a couple of tries. This did nothing.

Sorry for the long description but I wanted to provide as much info as possible in order to get help from the board. Does anyon have any ideas how I can bring my new sled back to life. If it did run out of gas did I need to do something special to restart it bacuase of the SDI? Did the backfire kill osmething? Any help much appreciated. thx

I would also replace the plugs, my '05 did something similar I started it up shut off choke too soon the sled started dying so I hit the throttle and it stalled I couldn't restart the sled no matter what, cleaned and tried plugs but didn't help,I then became frustrated and cursing at this time my 12 year old asked me if I tried changing the plugs? I thought you smartass little

Check all fuses to make sure you didnt short out to your computer......... Mine did on my 800X last year around 900 miles....... wired rubbed through and shorted out on the frame..... the computer shorts out then the fuse blows....... seemd like it should be the other way around.
