Blown 30 amp fuse-2006 600 SDI

Pulled up to a stop sign on today's ride and the machine shut down just like I hit the kill switch and would not restart or even fire. Messed around with the kill switch, DESS, fuses in the box, relays, etc, and was able to get it to fire a couple times but would not run (no fuel pump I would guess.) Finally determined that the 30 amp fuse on top the battery had blown. Replaced it and the machine fired right up. Rode it another 12 miles back to the trailer with no further issues.

I am concerned because 30 amp fuses usually don't just blow for the heck of it. Wondering what the underlying issue is that caused it to blow, and will it continue to be a problem???

2006 600 SDI with 6200 miles. Electric start removed. No previous electrical issues to date except one accessory relay awhile back.

Any ideas what would cause this fuse to blow?

Thanks-

my 06 summit 600sdi,same thing twice, out of the blue, almost had to get towed home by an arctic cat (always carry a spare fuse) ended up the fuse holder was corroded and getting hot???changed with new heavy duty fuse holder soldered in no problem last 2 years...maybe your problem too?? Hardy

Had the relay problem happen to me last year, 20 dollar fix and all was good.

Now this past weekend after a short trail ride and then bathroom break, i went to start her up again and had nothing. I found that i blew a (10) fuse in what is was called the start assist spot (not electric start). After putting a new fuse in i noticed my headlights would go right away but my sled would start just fine on second pull. However, when i shut my sled off the headlights would stay on(not good). I took the fuse out after each ride and unfortunately took it into dealer cause i had no idea what problem was.

Dealer advised that underneath my fuse box the wires, which he said are positive, were rubbing up againt the metal frame, the negative. After some time the wires rubbed enough to cause a short, which blew the fuse. It will continue to blow fuses or keep a charge, and drain battery, until you either replace the harness (expensive) underneath the fuse box, or tape up the wires for the quick fix to ride..

Hope this helps--
