So this happened now, in the middle hole of the 889, the skirt broke off or something and then the pin fell out and the rod ended up getting bent.....so can someone please explain how to go about fixing this, do I need a whole new crank or what?? The bottom part of the cylinder got a little beat up also and since it being a 889 I must have to find another jug to bore out I assume right??? Thanks guys

You won't know what you really need until you get the cylinder off and the crank out. The crank at a minimum needs to be split to replace that rod and bearings.

If it is indeed an 889 not an 809 then yes you will need another cylinder to be bored to size.

Not only will you need the cylinder bored but the chances are the original cylinder you have the damage on has had some porting work which will have to be duplicated in the new cylinder.

Do you have any idea why the piston skirt broke? It would be advisable to find out before you rebuild the engine. Piston skirts don't just break and fall off very often unless something caused it to.

It would be my guess, and it's only a guess, the circlip came out of the groove, the wrist pin moved over and got caught in the transfer port.

I’m thinking about, getting rid of it. Any interest? 98 Mach z with a big bore 889, jawz pipes, v force reeds, and studded track. Have all the stock stuff to go with it including a mbrp can for the center dumps. The sled is in excellent condition besides from the middle cylinder and bent rod now......shoot me an offer
