I'm ready to go into full "old-f*rt" mode and get the best riding sled I can buy. I'm thinking it is a 137" rmotion with ACS, but want more details

I've done a fair amount of research on this site and others to get more technical detail on the ACS system.....air shock. I'm coming us short, I'd like a hand. I've read comments about ride comparisons between renegade 137" rmotion vs the GSX SE SC5 ACS. Its fun to read the comments, but I need facts and design details to really get a grasp of how the ACS system works and how it will add to how well the rmotion performs.

Hi All,
I have a 2012 Expedition SE with Air Control Suspension. When I want to use it on the trail, it blows the fuse (15 amps). When I try it in the heated garage it works fine and I cannot find a short in the wiring. Has anyone experienced a similar issue? I wonder if the air pump is freezing? Any help is appreciated.

I had a 2010 GSX SE with SC5 and ACS. Now have a 2014 Se with rmotion and the main difference I think is the WIDE operating range of the rmotion. Once the torsion springs are set, I only toggle the ACS from 2-4 depending on baggage and trails. Will not have another sled without ACS if available. :biggrin_old: No problems with 9000 miles combined.

I don't have any technical details for the air shocks but we're on our second year with two of them and they are the best riding sleds we've ever owned. I can only imagine with Rmotion they would be even better. One thing to be aware of is that the compressor sits just forward of the left foot well and if you blow a belt, it can easily take out the compressor which has happened to a few people here. I think someone else posted pictures of internal corrosion in the compressor. It might be worth taking it apart in the off season and cleaning/drying/lubricating. I haven't done that and not exactly sure how they come apart or if they are all prone to corrosion.

I cant carry on enough about how much I love the air ride on my '14. The 137" R motion is the same skid as the renegade, except the rear shock is an air adjustable shock. I find myself making changes during the day for diffrent reasons. I might be going slow and want to soften it to use the whole travel or bump it up when the pace picks up to absorb those quick hits. You can alter your ski pressure and handling too by changing the ride height with the shock. Its one of those options that for me is a "once I have it, I cant live without it" kind of thing.

Yep, We weighted the backs of our sleds down with fuel caddies and stuffed tunnel bags. With the air suspension? No problem at all, bump it up to #3 instead of #2. It does make weird noises when you shut down though

There was a picture on here of an air pump with the seal gone and it was a rusty mess. If the seal is allowing moisture in - the motor could be sitting in a pool of frozen water causing the fuse to blow when cold and allowing it to spin when in heated shop

Just got my 2014 GSX SE ETEC 600 yesterday, rode it tonight and wasn't sure until I started putting in some preload on the mechanical springs for my weight. I'll just say it's amazing, I'm real close on setup in less than a 45 mile ride on mixed trails. My biggest concern was the power of the 600 etec in this configuration. Well as usual this motor never ceases to amaze me. It's still obviously in break in mode but I can tell already that I'll be pleased for years to come. Now I have my lighter 2009 Renegade 600 etec when I want to ride aggressive and the luxurious GSX when the back is hurting.

:cool_old: I love the ride from my 14 GSX se 800. Have had 4 SE`s with ACS. No problems. 14 is first one with R motion. 137 track with R motion completely flattens small bumps and smoothes the big ones. From an older guy with a wore out spine i think the R motion is the best rear suspension on snow. :cool_old:

When ski doo puts this in the XS body i will get one. I think they are a sleeper in performance also. With the taller gearing and lighter 15 wide single ply track they have to be faster than a Renegade with 25/45 gearing. Overall dry weights are the same. The fact that these come with 27/45 gearing confirms that gade guys can easily gear up to 26/45 and have no problems for general trail usage.

i have a 2010 GSX SE 1200 with Air suspension 2 years no problems last spring I had some repairs done through insurance and just picked up , was sitting outside all summer unknown to me. any way I hit the M ( mode) button and my rpm on my gauge cluster flashes as if I want to change to a different display. It is supposed to say air susp and what setting I am at? 1 2 3 4 or 5 ? Am i missing something here. I have a 2015 I rode all weekend works fine?

I have loaded up my touring/utility sled ridiculously heavy, and not even maxed out the suspension settings with my air-ride equipped Expedition SE. You can double your standard load and just adjust the air a couple of settings, and not touch the springs.

Another technical aspect of the air ride is that it changes spring characteristics of the suspension.

more spring less air, and you have a falling rate suspension. More air less spring and you have a rising rate suspension. good for changing your head light aim on the fly too. jack up the back end to reverse without ripping off the snow flap, lower the sled for a high speed run. The air ride does all sorts of stuff for you in a sled you don't really think about until you have it.
