Looking to pick up a used sled. Has 5300 miles on it. I've never had an 800. Always 600s or 700. Can you guys tell me the pros and cons of this sled. What I should watch out for. Common failures, maintenance schedule. What the compression should be...ect. Can you buy a complete motor to drop in if something catastrophic happens? And then if I do get this sled I'll be needing to know how to set it up for my ride style. Never been on xs chassis before. Good Old zx to gen4 to possibly xs for now.

Found a manual so I know what to look for. Maintenance schedule ect.

Do you guys think this is a good sled to buy, or just keep riding the 01 700 for now and spring check a 23 for 25 riding season as I'm sure this next spring check will be worse than this year was.

To me that's a lot of money for that sled but that is the market. I have a 2016 800 XRS with 20,000 miles. My Original 800 lasted to 13,000 miles. Only maintenance was repacking the PTO bearing multiple times. And cleaning power valves. Ask him what oil he ran and whether it was full synthetic because that's all I would want run in a sled I bought. Compression test would be huge information but it's hard to do on that sled. My compression has always remained at 150 PSI right up to 13,000 miles. If he repacked the bearing that would be an indicator that he took care of it. But he may have never heard of such a thing. It's definitely a huge step up from what you got. I always like new but not sure I'll ever spend 20 grand on a sled. This was my 14th new sled and I might run her up to 40,000 who knows.

Well i would say this, If you are happy with your current sled for 2 more years and can afford a spring check I would do that because a 2016 would be 8 years old by then with a good chunk of mileage. If i wanted it i wouldn't pay more than 7k myself. But i know people are asking the moon because of the market right now. I don't know where you are but i would explain the winter situation hasn't been great and you not willing to go over such amount because of it. I'm in Michigan and our snowfall has been brutal so far this year i've had to go to UP to ride.

Your looking to buy in the prime of sled season. If you can wait there is less than a month until the MY 23 is revealed. Some people will be wanting to sell to snow check and hopefully prices will go down some for the off season. Then again with everything going on a lot will be holding on to their sleds till new one comes in.
