Great job! Last year I was looking for an informative post on taking the edrive apart and couldn't find a great video. These are excellent.

Where would you order 749 arms? They are as much as a new clutch lol.

nice videos!

749 weights are oem 16+

as stated you can grind the older weights/ramps to duplicate the 749s

I have whatever comes stock in the 2015. I thought the weight placement in the ramps I have is different than the 749's but I've grinded a gram off each one, but I think this year I will go a little more after primary and secondary spring changes if needed. I rev at 7200 right now, which is fine for the wife but she wants a little more zip this year.

As Chris stated above they are Factory (OEM) parts. Have to order from dealer. In your case just grind the bump off to match the 749 Ramps and grind the tips to 36.5 grams each, also switch to hex slides.

Have not built any 1200's, have done muffler mods, air box mods and clutches.

My son and I are building a 1200. It's a 2012 MXZ X. We have a PB80 and a Dalton helix for it. A fella had made his own clutch kit. But I'm curious to know more about air box mods. What did you do? Insulate it?

Atk,

I just built my 2012 1200x and I have researched for hours upon hours and I copied some very smart guys. Go to the 1200 forum or use google and tag dootalk in the search and you will find all the answers. If you pm me I can send you photos of my wrapped airbox, header. I would recommend boost engineering tune and muffler mod or send it to bar549, his muffler mod on his 900 definitely worked.

I seperate the air box and make mods to the interior and insulate them.

doing the box mods are the easy part

disassembly of the hood is the hard part

there are a few tricks with the headlight

Any chance you would do a video on this?
No video planned at this time. Do a search (Google) top left (1200 Air Box Mods).

Have not posted to this thread in a while and thought I would add an update.

Just came back from a ride in the U.P. (Paradise Mi). I added, a couple of additional mods to my sled over the long summer months and wanted to give them a good testing and shake down run before my Annual Saddle Bag Trip, and this season we are headed for the Gaspe Peninsula - Quebec Canada, 6 Days.

Storm Track: After alot of research, I decide to go with the Storm 2 ply and added 4 studs every other bar with double backers. Previous track was a Factory 1.25 pre-studded Ripsaw with 2 studs every bar with double backers. I weighed both tracks fully studded and the Storm Track was 2 oz's lighter, almost identical weight. The Ripsaw worked good except when accelerating at the top of a rise, it would loose grip and spin. The Storm Track has a lug height of 1.25 on the outside and 1.50 lug height in the middle with large stiff lugs/scoops. This track hooks, when accelerating off from a rise, it grabs and lifts the skis and launches you off from the rise and makes for a totally different sled. If you are looking for traction and or need to replace your track, I would highly recommend this track, it will put a smile on your face. No additional noise, great ride, handles great in the corners.

Gearing: Stock factory gearing for my 2016 Blizzard was 24 Top Gear and a 45 Bottom Gear. The Blizzard comes with a 129" track. Renegades factory gearing is 24 Top Gear and a 49 Bottom Gear. The renegade comes with a 137" track. I was looking for harder acceleration and more of a linier pull. I felt like the sled was struggling at times pulling the Higher Ratio, whereas the Renegades I rode where very linier. So I decided to split the difference and go with a 47 Tooth Lower Gear.

Gear Ratios:

Blizzard - Factory Gearing = 24/45 - 1.88 Ratio

Renegade - Factory Gearing = 24/49 - 2.04 Ratio

New Gearing = 24/47 - 1.96 Ratio

Stock factory chain was a 104 link and had to switch to a 106 link for new gear ratio. When going to a longer track and/or taller lug height track, it is recommended to change gearing also to make up for the extra track and/or taller lug which will add additional load to the engine. What a change, nice linier pull right to top end. Much more acceleration from bottom to top, plus better acceleration from all rolling speeds to full throttle. The gear change along with the new Storm Track transformed this sled into a totally different animal. I did not have my Data Collector installed to give numbers, but there is no doubt this was a move in the right direction. Did not do a top end run as trail conditions where ok at best. Hope to have more feedback after Gaspe Trip in two weeks. I just love this sled.

This sled will be for sale when I return, stay tuned for details.

Thanks. Sorry to say, I am moving to Florida and it does not make since to own a sled and only ride 2 to 3 times a season, with usually one high mile saddle bag trip. My riding buddies offered to let me ride their machines as long as I buy the gas, so keeping my riding gear. That's an offer hard to beat. I will in turn help with maintenance, great bunch of guys I ride with. I still will be offering my mods, clutch kits, and parts. Going to be buying me a rat rod for cruising around in and really looking forward to a new chapter in life (Gators and Bugs) LOL!

I have a 2016 renegade and l thinking of switching out to the storm 150 for next season. Do you think I'll need to change out the gears and if so what would you recommend?

With a Renegade, I would run it with stock gears.
