its on the console right in front of the handle bars on the right hand side.or the part that goes around the steering post.

 

If I remember right when I installed mine there was a mark on the inside of the plastic that showed the location to drill.

If you look at a GSX I think you'll find that's pretty close to where the factory installs them.

I installed one on my 09 800 in the area shown in the above pic. When i drilled the same location on my '11 800 etec I found the 12v socket came in contact with a wire harness. Never had a problem but I would suggest removing the piece before you drill to be sure it's the right spot.

 

I put mine near the speedo. It fits easy. I had to remove a small tab on the inside of the console for extra room.

 

I have to say it looks better in that area!
