I just got a new to me 2016 Renegade XRS from a friend in the riding group.

Previously, on my 2014 Renegade Adrenaline, I ran the skidoo tunnel mounted ice scratchers and they worked well but I don't want to run these again.
If you don't drill the holes perfectly on the install, they won't hold tension down against the snow/ice.
Plus I'd prefer not to add any steps to removing/reinstalling the skid. (Quick adjust already on both running boards)

I was looking to do a Skidoo or RSI rail mounted spring ice scratcher but it looks like those only work on C-motion and T-motion skids due to the idler wheels mounted on the outside of the front skid rails on the R-motion skid.

The more I read about cable scratchers I don't really like them, but they seem like my best option due I probably won't be using them very often and they're the easiest to install.
I considered the a-arm or ski mounted ice scratchers but I'm not sure, I already have a lot going on with the skis (height adjustable carbides) and there's a Skidoo skid plate on the sled which takes up some real estate under the lower a-arms.

Looking for any ice scratcher experiences you have to share - pros and cons

I used the RSI scratches on my 16 Renegade. I mounted them up against the triangle hole just behind the last wheel. I had to fab a small aluminum plate with two holes drilled in it to span the triangle hole on the backside. Worked great and I didn't have to drill the rails.

I've got a 2016 800 MXZ XRS and put rail scratchers on last year. I find them to work much better than the tunnel Mount scratches I already had. At times I use both. For me it's hands down real scratcher for Effective Cooling and lubrication.

I didn't mention I have ski ones also, homemade. They do kick up a whole lot of snow. The rail mounted Ski-Doo scratchers aren't designed for my 129 skid. In the off season, with the shocks out I played around and found a spot that they would still work and not interfere with anything. It was worth it.

ski scratchers make the most sense to me atleast they loosen up the snow and ice in front of your track so you can throw it up and get the benefits of it, that said i ended up getting myself a set of tunnel mounted for my 16 gade

And here's another odd combo I came up with. I had bought two of the SPI rail mount kits but found out they won't fit on the 17 Grand Touring due to the wheel placement being different than the Renegade. I bent up some aluminum, drilled and notched it to fit into the Curve skis, then mounted the SPI's to it. Also added a stainless rod for a holder when not in use. All this is held on by one of the wear bar nuts, no holes drilled. Works great!

I wonder if the RSI rail scratchers are the same as Skidoo? and both are the same as SPI...
What about all the bolts and brackets? Identical?

I always tend to go with the more expensive item, within reason of course...
