So what is everyones poinion on a 600 etec gade vs a 1200 gade. Not to interested in top speed because we know the 1200 would pull it. But in a 200 mile ride and corner to corner and gas stop to gas stop. What do you think? Has anyone rode both? What did you think.

Rode both and bought the 1200 Renegade. It was heavier and gas mileage not as good as the 600 etec, but loved that motor. Best motor for on-trail riding.

I drive 1200 gsx 1200 se and love the 1200 but mileage is so so, about 15 mph, power is great, very smooth and I don't worry about a lean burn down. My wife drives 600 etech gsx , to keep weight down for her. The sled rides and handles awesome and she get about 20mpg with it. Both nice sleds, the new xs chassis is sure much better looking than xr chassis and overall lighter. If I was buying new I would buy 600 etec, or 900 ace for the lighter weight and more up to date chassis. You cant go wrong either way though.....

Not a Gade but I had an '09 & '10 Etec shorty. In '10 I ended up on a 1200. I've been on a 1200 ever since, with '14 being my 3rd one.

The corner to corner pill of the 1200 is addicting.

Mileage wise, I'm in the minority. My 1200 does as good or better than either of my Etecs, or any other 600 I've owned. I do have a tendency to have a heavy thumb though, so take that for what its worth.

Just love the smoothhhh pull of the 1200.

I was reading in my owners book the the 900 ACE 120 weights in at 570? My Gade X is only 522> Why would you want more weight and less power? :shrug

Sorry guys but I don't believe a 1200 is going to get 17 plus miles to the gallon. Im worried about the weight over the front end. Really like the way my stroke glides over the bumps. My buddy is looking at a 1200 so hopefully I might get to put some seat time on one of these Xrs. I do love the sound of them.

If driven easy the 600 will get better mpgs. If driven hard, she gets thirstier.

I couldn't be happier with my 1200, but it's a shorty.

I've owned and ridden both. I loved the 600 e-tec but the 1200 is better for all day trail riding. I get 16mpg on the 1200 and got 20mpg or better with the e-tec but I'm not a constant throttle masher. I don't feel the weight difference at all when riding and believe the 1200 actually "handles" better but I'm strictly a trail rider. I was worried my 125lb.wife would think the 1200 GSX-SE was too heavy but she likes it more than her GSX 600 e-tec. and says she can't tell it's heavier and thinks it's easier to steer. If the range was as good as the 600 e-tec it'd be a 10 in my book

My 800r got better mileage than the couple 1200s in our group, the 600 and 800 etecs did a lot better.... But I ditched my 800r for the 1200! Wish it had more power, but loved it as a trail sled

I own both, have since 2009, every time I ride my wifes x package etec 600 renegade, I cant wait to get back on my 1200 gade.....(I'm on my third one)

IMO it dominates the 600 in every aspect of being a trailsled other than being lighter...

I can run the flipper to the bars all day long and not worry about detonation, and it "feels" like it pulls way harder corner to corner..

I am not bashing the 600 etec gade..... it is a great sled, the 1200 gade is better.....

Gas mileage doesn't matter to me, I'm still getting 14.5 - 15 riding as hard as I can all day long, and I use 87 octane, not premium like the etec....

I owned an '09 600 Etec Renegade. I now own an '11 1200 Renegade. I prefer the 1200 for its torque, smoothness, reliability & potentially its longer lifespan. The 1200 is way less buzzy & feels like a more solid sled. It has a slightly more heavy feel in the turns but not so much so that it's a problem. The cornering on the 600 was telepathic. It was problematic in that it made me drive way too fast on the trails. The 600 didn't have enough power in the midrange & struggled to hit 100. It felt like a cheap sled & after 1 season, I sold it because of its lack of power. I intend to keep the 1200 for a long time. I ride groomed trails & the 1200 is much nicer for this application IMO. Don't even consider an 800, they are high strung & unreliable.
