Was poking around under the cowl to see why the head light might not be working and noticed some of the wires seem burnt from touching the exhaust. One wire is broken off, but I don't know what any of them do.

Also, where does power come from for things like tail lights and head lights? How much power is available to run additional lights and such?

Would there be enought power to run a winch.

Has anyone ever added a tach to these old machines that didn't have them?

I think that's all for now....

must be a '82 instead of '72 i guess. The light power comes from the lighting coil under the flywheel. The magneto dont have enough pwer to run additional lights, maybe few small bulbs at 3-5 watts each. You cant run a winch unless you got a battery on.You can add a tach if you want,it works from the lighting coil. The wires for the headlight are 2-yellow and one brown or black ,not sure on this one.
