Where did I go wrong Guys?

Hey All,

So I have been planning this week-end since I picked up my 97 FIII 600 and I thought things went great for my first time yanking apart clutches and swaping a track out....BUT After I finished I took it for a quick jag down to the shed where it lives and it seemed really really boggy and even opened up for a few seconds doesn't seem right..and it was right when I brought it up to the shop. No bottom end power..but sounds like the motor is retared?

Here's what all I changed:

swaped my .9" track up to a 1.5" and changed the main drive bearings while it was apart and put new sliders in ..everything seems great there..turns easily by hand..no shakes no wobbles.

I pulled my primary and put a new Doo stock spring in...everything seemed good and moving free went together easy and all marks lined up. but one roller when the arm is down seems to just barely touch the primary spring...is that ok?

I pulled my secondary apart..and well....it seemed great but I was paying more attention to my print out of how to take it apart the the clutch itself and forgot which holes the spring belongs in...so from the chart in the print-out it said Position C-6 should give my 16.5 lbs pressure? is that right? (I got the chart from the Doo Talk Tech part with the spot of removing and servicing a TRA Primary)

It went back together well...but maybe I'm wrong

I pulled all the carbs and gave them a cleaning but never touched any of the idle or mix screws but I did drop the jets one size from 330's to 320's and I have heard these machines run pretty FAT. Again it all wnet together well and seemed good. I also pulled and cleaned the raves and they seemed to be great and moving freely.

So I'm lost now..*%@ could it be....any of you PRO's wann give it a keyboard diagnosis?

p.s. I did spin the secondary 1/4 turn or so in the opposite way to put spring perssure on... THANKS ALL!

Try putting a scale on the secondary clutch to see if you do in fact have 16.5 lbs.

Can that affect engine performance that much tho?
Sounds like something in your secondary clutch or check compression and make sure it's not as simple as a fouled plug. Good luck!
How did it act b4 you touched it? Did you run it around at all?

It seemed great..well..after I swaped the belt out last time I guess I forgot to work it all the way up in the secondary...so it was really funny when I first took off but after that it had worlds of Jam...so this is something I created. I put new plugs in..maybe I got a bum blug..
I guess I will have to look through everything...

But still does anyone know where my secondary spring is supposed to be in the secondary...... I have it at 6-C ......so you have 1-6 and A-C to choose from..

C6 should be right I think thats about 16-17LBs.It sounds like you didnt wind up the spring on the secondary.Turn the secondary counter clockwise and then you push the helix in and try to get the snap ring on.
If you dont have the clutch compression tool you may need a second person to get the snap ring in while you hold it in place.
Did you adjust the secondary for the new belt?
