It seems like a Snowmobile is in the shop or you're working on it all the time. So What Is The Most Reliable and Durable Snowmobile?
Make
Model
Year

1990's-2000?
2000's -2018?

That's easy. My friend Bob has the most reliable sled ever and it has over 20,000 mi. on it and has never needed anything except gas

The question is most reliable snowmobile...not the most reliable engine.

I'll take Ski-Doo.
Reliable and Durable.

Some reliable sleds out there that as soon as you take em off trail, this plastic thing breaks, that arm breaks, this tunnel is tweaked then the key breaks off or it goes into limp mode.

I don't want Chuck Norris's sled I want his brother that kicked his butt's sled. Goes anywhere, Starts up always, and takes a licking and keeps on ticking. No special reeds, whoops I blew the motor at 3,000 miles, starts at -30 F, goes almost everywhere through anything. get's put up wet out in a -20 blizzard and fires up the next day with a smile on its face.

TBH, if I had to ride across Alaska or something and all I could get was fuel. I’d choose a Yamaha Vector. Bulletproof from headlight to taillight. The 4 stroke Doos are good too, but the Vector is a more proven overall rig IMHO. That said, I sold my Yamaha Nytro for a Ski Doo 1200 and then sold that for my current XRS Gade 800 etech. No regrets. Plus, the last 3 winters have been so crappy, I’m not piling the miles on anyway.

My 13' GSX SE 1200 now has 16,000mi. on it.. Never broke down or towed, runs and looks new. I want to hit 20,000mi. before I get a new sled, maybe more miles than that if winters keep getting shorter I'll keep it longer.

As far as "ski-doo" goes.... its hands down.. The 600 Carbed/ 500SS/ whatever you want to call it.... The proof is in the pudding....

They've been running this engine since 1999 to Present...

Its their Longest running engine EVER .

What other engine have they kept for 20+ years???

None....

Drops Mic.....

Ditto.

Ya gotta give credit to anything with a Rotax 503 in it as well. You can abuse the living crap out of a 503 and it won't die. Especially ones before oil injection. I've seen guys pre mix with used motor oil in these things and flog the shiznit out of em they just keep ticking. 1980 Blizzard 5500. 1980 Everest 500. Built like tanks. 503 motors. I have a 1980 Everest 500 that my dad bought new. It doesn't have a bunch of miles on it about 4,000 but it is 39 yrs old has sat most of its life. The ONLY maintenance ever done was to clean the carb once in a while and a few new belts. The ONLY part ever replaced was the secondary spring. Twice. That's it. Still has the original slides on it. I think the headlight bulb burned out once. It's been rolled ran into ran over(with me on it) used to run into thing push things pull things and just general shenanigans for nearly 40 years. It hasn't be run in two years. I could go out right now and de gum the primer give it four squirts and it would start with no more than two pulls and I could flog it hard across the field wide open for as long as I wished and it would be just happy happy. I would ride that sled across Canada and not be concerned one bit.....about the sled. Me on the other hand....
