i hear people talking about floating the secondary for belt alignment. what is this and the effects. can it be done on an 05 mach z. any performane issues with this?

doo a search. There's a spacer that a member makes so your secondary can float on the shaft to keep the clutches aligned on the fly.

All you need is 3 Polaris secondary spacers - it's about $12 total in parts. You need to remove a washer on the shaft and add a washer to the spacers to hit the desired slide. Duck's kit will make it clearer, he's the one that had me get the Pol spacers prior to him selling the kit and it's worked fantastic ever since. I have my 800 Gade setup that way and am about to do it to my wife's 550 Fan as the belt dust already plugged up one of her pilot jets - which caused poor idling and hard starting. My RPMs zing up to 8000 and hold, and backshifting is no problem. Belt dust is reduced by 80%.
