What happens when a notebook battery shorts?

Happened in Philly last winter. Crew barely made it out. They are fine and well. The airplane WAS a DC-8.
Sorry end after it's 35+ yr. career

HAaha, Dell still hasnt resolved these issues...

For as long as dell has been selling laptops they have been recalling the batteries because of fires, they just did yet another recall a week or so back too...
