I put a chin up bar next to the stairs and in the entrance to the computer room(same place). Everytime I go upstairs or go on the computer I do fivepull ups when I come in or go up and 5 when I leave or come down. You wouldnt beleive it put this turns out to be a lot. I have done like 70 and its a weekday. On the weekends I will probably get like 100 or more. Seems to be a good idea to me, what do you guys think?

can't hurt, but for a real workout you need 20+ minutes at 60%-70% of max heart rate. I prefer 35 miles on my bicycle with a few hills thrown in to get my heart rate up to 190 or so.
sometimes I ride out to my friends house out in skaneatles from syracuse new york. Its a 25 min drive so its probably about 30 miles. Thats always fun...

good work out for your back... but what about the rest of your body?? not much a routine if u ask me....

try this
- do your chin-ups, BUT more than 5 AND do them widegrip.
- do 25 sit ups right after
- flip over and do 25 push ups
- get up and run up and down the stairs for a few minutes

have a rest, get some water and do it all over again. i do this when i'm bored at home and dont wanna go all the way to the gym. better than sitting on your arse watching tv. or go outside and lift the back of your sled and get your back ready for the winter!!
well we have a total gym so I go on that
Yeah I think general weight lifting excercise would be much better because riding is a full body work-out, but mostly uses the back, shoulders and triceps.

Tug, are those all there cracked up to be? How long have you been using? I've been tempted for years to get one ...

I have the Power Pro version (3 years old now?) and it works pretty good, haven't even come close to wearing it out and it's been used a ton. It's very convienant because you can do multiple workouts in pretty much any muscle group with little changing of positions. The new ones look better because of the pull down bar.

As for results...you won't see any better than when compared to free weights, but you will be able to exercise everything you can think of in some form or another. It's worth the money if convienance is your big thing. Best thing you can do is go to Dick's and try one out for yourself. There's a bunch of copy-cats now but the Bowflex is still the best among the power rod exercise machines IMO.

I like to get in cardio 4 times a week and lift twice a week. Stick with a routine and don't break it. It is ok to change it up every now and then but try to stick with a schedule.
-Good luck, you will be happy that you are working out when riding season comes and all your buddies are complaining that they are soar and you are ready for more.

ya, but how many hot chicks are in your house compared to the gym. my gym membership is large coin BUT there's never anyone there. nothing better than working 12+ hour days doing manual labour then hitting the gym for an hour!!
