vforce 3's

I purchased a set of vf3's on here last week, and they arrived today. The box says all 600/800 revs and the part number on the box says v3124-904a-2. however, the reeds themselves have the number v3122, then 904 below that, then 122 below that. Are these good for my sled, or are they for something else? Also, they are first gen, does that mean I need a reed spacer on my 03? if so, what thickness? Thanks alot!!!

All the reeds and cages are the same for all the series III BRP motors. The only difference is in the boots. There were 3 made for the REV - one for the small throttle bodies of the 600 SDI, one for the large 1000 SDI and the ones for all other carb versions. Mine also had 3122 on them not 3124 but was told that signifies only that I got the ones with boots (the HO models did not need them since they did not have the integrated boot/reed combo that the '03's did). if your boots fit on your carbs then you got the right ones.

The gen. 1 version of VF-III's have reed stops. In order to prevent them from blocking the intake ports you add 1/4" spacers to improve efficiency. The gen. 2 versions don't need the spacers as they don't have stops so there's is nothing blocking the intake ports (plus they're built as if a spacer had been used).

Have FUN!

I found gouges in my PTO piston and knew something was not good......so I split the bottom end and found chunks of bearing cage all over the place....it was not a happy moment
