The only crank bearing in that engine that runs in a finite supply of isoflex grease (shielded from crankcase lubrication) is the outer PTO bearing. The inner PTO bearing, both inside bearings, and both MAG side bearings are open to the cases.

I don't think newer series 3 engines with sealed MAG bearings have much of a chance of seeing that kind of mileage unless the cases are split and the grease replenished.

If I were you I'd inject some fresh isoflex into the nipple for that outer PTO bearing before it runs dry.

Good for him, does he have another sled that he put 5000 kms on last winter on top ot that? Seriously, I'm not trying to brag (well maybe just a little

) but with all the ppl on here bitching about how bad the series III engines are (while having lines in their sig like 'ride it like a rental', 'wot', 'drive it like you stole it' etc...) I just wanted to share my good experience with them and demonstrate how long they will go if you take care of it just a little (and I don't mean baby it).

I had lots of free time before I got married this fall, 120kms after I got home from work and ate supper was not uncommon. The winters were better then this one by a long shot too, I don't think I've got 1000kms on between both sleds yet
