Turbo a 600 ACE Tundra: Bad Idea?

So, while I really like a lot about the 550 LT, I am getting pretty tired of noise and stink. I can even live with the mileage (or lack there of).

My dilemma is that there really isn't another platform that works for me besides the Tundra.

While I don't hate the Skandic, I like riding my sleds, not driving them, and the Skandic is just too big and heavy.

I don't want the Extreme, even though Id love to have the ETEC power; the cooling issues just cant be ignored.

So, bottom line, if I want to stick with the Tundra platform and have more power than the 550 or ACE offer, looks like a turbo is the only option.

Anyone ever ridden a turbo'd ACE?

Bad idea?

I'd considered it at one point but there wasn't much out out there for it. It would be costly, likely the biggest setback.

Thinking outside the box, maybe cheaper and simpler to get a 900 Expy Sport and swap over the Tundra s-mod, crossmember, and plastics. Can swap the Expy stuff on to a Tundra and sell it as what would then be an Expy Sport 550 or 600. The Tundra LT and XP chassis Expy Sport are the same underneath the bodywork except for the front end.

Sorry dude, s-mod? You lost me. Are you saying one could swap the pogo suspension to the Xp? Sounds like a heckuva bunch of work.

I should have been clearer in my post that I didn't want a-arms, otherwise yeah, a 900 ACE is perfect. Turbo 900 for 2019 eh? There was a guy I bought a sled from in Delta Junction a few years back who turbo'd his 600 ACE Tundra.

Yeah, that would be the way to go. Rad kit or retrofit in an Extreme. Drop down to a lugged track if you want to run ice screws. Easy peasy

X2 for the tundra extreme. A quick look on the parts fiche shows it comes with the air rad. It's not on the spec sheets tho. Before I didn't see an air rad on spec sheet for the expedition extreme either but the dealer had one on the showroom floor that I was looking at and I noticed an air rad on the expy extreme.
Maybe someone with a tundra extreme can confirm if it is stick with an air rad.
If that's the case might just want to re-visit the track lug and maybe check the gearing diferences between the engine options

Ill have to drop by the dealer and check out an Extreme, like you guys said, never noticed a rad before.

That being said, Id have to swap the track, and being restricted to Premium is kind of a pain. I guess that could be the issue with a turbo ACE as well, although MC Express doesn't mention which fuel they recommend for the 90 HP kit.

I am still leery of the 600ETEC though, given that the only guy I know with the Extreme is on his 3rd top end in <5000 kM.

Thanks for the input gents.

:Cheers

I see 87 run in them all the time. 5000 miles on two of them in my group with no issue running nothing but 87 (and 1000 miles of 100LL when flying in fuel). The engine will derate itself if the knock sensor picks up anything. With that said, I'm probably not ever gonna buy one. The ACEs are so much nicer.

Had a look at a new Extreme, definitely doesn't have a rad and fan. They (BRP) must use a generic schematic for the 600 ETEC cooling system.

Definitely a Tundra Extreme. 3 top ends. All were preceeded by overheating events (ETEC shut down).
