Just on the news, the highest official wind gust recorded today on Tug Hill was...99.2 MPH! Thats a strong wind. The good news is it blew out all the warm crap and another Lake Effect Storm is headed our way.

I just got the updated forecast as well...


...LAKE EFFECT SNOW WARNING IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT SATURDAY
NIGHT TO 6 PM EST SUNDAY...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN BUFFALO HAS ISSUED A LAKE EFFECT
SNOW WARNING...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT SATURDAY NIGHT TO
6 PM EST SUNDAY.

SCATTERED SNOW SHOWERS OVER THE TUG HILL PLATEAU DURING THE FIRST
HALF OF THE WEEKEND WILL BECOME BETTER ORGANIZED SATURDAY NIGHT
AND SUNDAY. SIGNIFICANT ACCUMULATIONS ACROSS THE TUG HILL REGION
WILL THEN BE EXPECTED.

IN LAKE EFFECT SNOW THE WEATHER CAN VARY FROM LOCALLY HEAVY SNOW
IN NARROW BANDS TO CLEAR SKIES JUST A FEW MILES AWAY. IF YOU WILL
BE TRAVELING ACROSS THE REGION BE PREPARED FOR RAPID CHANGES IN
ROAD AND VISIBILITY CONDITIONS. STAY TUNED TO NOAA WEATHER RADIO
AND OTHER RADIO AND TV STATIONS FOR FURTHER DETAILS OR UPDATES.

They are geared to rotate the same speed does'nt matter if the wind is blowing 5mph or 100 mph at least thats what I was told when I went on the tours of the ones in Madison

They shut the windmills down with 22 MPH or greater winds. Too much wind is hard on them as well.
