I have xmap for michigan. Shows public and private land. Not perfect. Out west it is supposed to have even better detail.

Shows Plat book lines and markers. I am on a section line, so I like it.

Still trying to find easy converter between Plat map and gps

 

I been using Backwoods GPS maps on my Montana now for 3 years. I like the detail of the maps.

Are you partial to one or the either ?

 

Top one, gps trailmasters. You can get the grand touring map which covers NY to Maine with Quebec.

 

I tried both, and I favor Backwoods. They have NH, ME, VT, NY, Quebec. I thought the detail was better than Trailmaster. It seem Backwoods showed more of the small roads, and other POI in detail. That was important for me. To know where I was on a trail in relation to roads in case of an emergency, or having to walk out of the woods to civilization. Backwoods even showed a lot of old logging roads, that Traimaster did not. But for general navigation of the trails. both are excellent. Just depends on how much detail you'd like to see. JMO

 

Thanks for the comments. They do both look good, however I agree that the level of detail seems better with Backwoods. I ride primarily in NH , but may venture into ME at some point. Don't really see myself heading into Canada or NY.
