On Sunday March 4th Team Tom McConkey and Dr. Don Emery from DNE Performance unvieled their latest wepon at the NBSSR event in North Bay Ontario. An Anderson chassis with a DNE custom 1725cc quad. On it's first full throtle pass the sled eclipsed 181+mph on the radar gun. Now there is speculation as to it's true speed as the gun settled in at a 172.2mph but when viewing the video it is clear to tell that Tom lifted before the end of the trap as the sled was out of gear and decelerated quite rapidly.

Tom McConkey Stated that it felt much faster that 172. He should know as only 2 weeks earlier he blew a track on Quadzillia 2 at 171 mph got off the sled and slid accoss the speed trap on his belly at 170+mph!

View the video and you be the judge. Or better yet be sure to catch the final showdown Next Weekend in North Bay at the NBSSR event.

It never hit more than 172.2 mph. The gun is setup to read only the highest speed. The 181 seen on the board is unrelated to the gun, it is because there are 2 boards hooked up when there was only originally one, so that board goes screwy sometimes.
If he hit 181 the board would lock on it. Or the gun would show zero after he passed it. Understand?

However, Tommy is fast and will get that 180 or more!!!! I can't wait for next weekend!

It really doesnt matter if he hit 400mph at the 600 foot line, he crossed the FINISH LINE at 172mph.

You miss read my post, his top speed on the run was 172.2mph PERIOD. The gun is not setup to read high then low. He could have stopped at the gun, it still would have read his 172.2mph, as that was the fastest speed the gun saw.

That board is screwy, the 2 display boards are run off a generator. Sometimes that generator's output goes wonky and the boards do goofy things!
