If it's the same as the past two years, you get rebuildable shocks, different running boards, X only colors and extended warranty. If you're planning to keep the sled more than two years, the X is probably the way to go. SP shocks last only a season and aren't rebuildable, and Doo wants a ridiculous amount for replacement shocks. If you're not planning to keep it long term or want upgraded suspension, get the SP.

Thanks man, I'll be transferring half of my elka stage 4 and replacing the one with diff geometry.. just wasn't sure what the deal with the X was... love that red one!

 

You can snowcheck an SP mode with 4 years warranty too.

Only real difference is running boards and color options.

Ya 4 years on sp toi. And I’ve had bot sps and xs and the shocks are as good to me on the sps, never ad to rebuilt one on the xs and never had to replace one on the sps... do the real difference is only colors and running boards... and 1000$

 

Motion Control shocks should be removed the day you bring your sled home and tossed in the trash.

It's embarrassing that the #1 sled manufacture sells sleds with those on them. It's a slap in the face to anyone who buys a sport model

 

I just built an X and SP and it's only $550 Diff. So is it worth it for shocks, boards and 10#'s? Some think so

 

For $550 for KYB junk shocks, a few more stickers and a plastic X that breaks off the grill. Not worth it IMHO

Base model sleds are where it's at.

Personally that's all I'll ever buy, mostly because my sleds stay stock for .2 miles and that's it

X models have better running boards, light weight break rotor with braided stainless steel brake line, re-buildable / re-valveable shocks, and around 5-10lbs lighter. Plus colors options if those matter to you.

Last year you could order an X with SL clutching ,but the SP had to be done at the dealer. ( or by you ) Oh and do not forget the little X on the seat.

 

its a shame my 2010 XRS shocks are still better than my 17 850 X's! Even if you can rebuild them, no resi to keep them from fading over long periods of thrashing on the trail in, and no knob for quick and easy adjustment either. :dry_old:

 

I have had plenty of both ( SP's and X's). The X's are always easier to get rid of. For only $500 more I think its worth it.

 

It’s only about 550$ difference in price and you get way better resale. Dealers dump left over sp’s For cheap so you don’t get anything for them when you go to sell.

 

Its totally worth $550 for that red though........If you can throw it down!

The weight savings comes from the shocks, lighter chromoly lower A-Arms( at least that used to be the case), lighter brake rotor.
