Storing your snowmobile full tank or empty tank of gas? Which is the best for condensation? I know full tank save on condensation, but then you start the next season with old gas.Empty causes condensation, which way do most go and why?

Even though I run 4-strokes, the last ride of the season I fill up with non-ethanol and then ride it down as low as I can. Then I add a little stabilizer and run it through the fuel system before I store them for the summer. That way I don't have to worry about ethanol adsorbing any moisture and I only have a small amount of "old" gas in the tank. When I fill up for the first ride of the next season I have fresh fuel for the most part.

I've been doing that the past 5 seasons and have had no issues.

Store it inside a building with minimum temperature variation to minimize condensation.

I knew I would get a lot of different views on this one most of what I read on the web says full tank, but I like real world experiences hence asking it here. As far as starting the sled every two or three weeks I use to do that with the older sleds, but with the etec and the automatic storage feature I don't do that any longer.I guess I could still do that, but now just do the storage thing and walk away until next winter.

1/4 tank or under with ethanol free gas. come riding season carbs drained and all of the fuel drained. If the sled has TB then just all of the fuel in the tank drained, and fuel line drained if possible. I will probably get some backlash but I've seen my far share of sleds burn down with stabil and other fuel stabilizers in the beginning of each season due to poor quality of fuel. Fuel goes "flat" in a very short period of time. Every friends sled I work on or preseason starts with all of the old gas drained out and fresh 5 gallons of ethanol free gas that I test for good volatility. I've never lost a motor in the beginning season due to old gas. Every time I get a phone call from a friend's friend I hear "well I put stabil in it, it should be fine" after I asked them how old was the gas.

Never used stabil, stuff that sits for 8 months doesn't need it

Store it with the tank full and run it down the next season before going WFO

Believe what you want about level, but if you have ever listened closely you'll hear the tank vent make a very low hoot sound as it breathes due to temperatures change. At least our Renegade does this daily in a 62°f controlled temp shop. Its just like a sealed metal gas can that goes plunk in the garage every day all summer. Myself, I want my gas stabilized for storage, and as little air space as possible in the tank.

Marine stabilizer in E0 gas and a touch of injector oil, not enough even to make it 150-1 just a touch. What ever is in the tank is what's in the machine. In fact I like having room to top off with fresh on the first ride so I'll siphon off some for the mower if sled is full. When season starts I'll fuel with E10 just to pick up any moisture, when end of season looks near it's E0 only. No fuel related issues in the last 20 yrs. . Sled list is in my sig. line.

pull out as much as I can, and dump it in her car. Pour in 1-2 gallons of 100LL avgas and run until I smell it. THen do the auto summerize feature and forget about it until late fall. I've yet to ever have somebody tell me what stabil does for fuel. If anybody can tell me, please do. And not the bottle says "keeps fuel fresh for xx days " ect ect. Looking for some chemistry behind the magic. I felt kind of bad asking a sales rep at a show about it once because he was clueless about how it actually does anything. He did move along to the next guy to tell him how great it was, and made a sale. To each their own.

If sled is stored inside in climate controlled then a couple gallons is all i leave in. If stored in trailer outside or in non climate control then full tank it is. Siphon out in late fall and put in truck then top off with fresh premium.

Been doing this with all my equipment for years. Zero issues.

Startron with a full tank. Run stailizer through system. Hit the auto summarize and let run till it stops. In the fall I drain all gas out and put in my truck. Fill with fresh gas and away you go. Might be a touch more work but I don't care and will continue with this.

Because I over bought Stabil I'll continue to use it till it is gone I am sure Startron is better though.
I've got a long story (that I won't go into) about using startron in my Nautique instead of stabil (which I normally use) but in short "NO" it's not and I won't use that crap ever again.
Stick with good ole Stabil Marine
