Hi all,

I just bought a new to me stf sled deck is in new condition a few years old though. I want to haul my 2009 rzr s 800 (side by side) on it. It weighs probably around 1200lbs with full tank of gas and lube oils. I had it on yesterday just to see how it was to load it lol I plan to haul the rzr

on the deck while towing my 26ft trailer camping next weekend and wondering if anyone has done this before and how it was for them? I'm worried a bit that the rzr is too much weight for the deck? It's an aluminum deck with slides and it's for a long box. My truck is a 2011 F350 diesel with rear suspension air bags. Thanks in advance .

Typically Sled Deck is rated for 2 snowmobiles, right? 2 x 600 lbs = 1200 lbs. Yeah, most machines these days are lighter, but I'm sure the Sled Decks still have to be at least 1200 lbs. Probably more like 1500 lbs.

There should be a sticker or plate on the sled deck (required by law) that tells you the rating.

Your main issue here is cargo capacity of the truck. You have the weight of the sled deck, the rzr and then the tongue weight of the trailer that all effect the cargo capacity of the truck. I would look at the sticker on your door and see what that number is. I'm guessing you will pretty close to the max before even having people in your truck.

payload capacity is 7000 lbs stock but I have air bags added. So approx hitch weight would be 10-15% of gross trailer weight would be around 1300-1500lbs plus sled deck im guessing 500lbs? the rzr weighs approx 1200lbs as the dry weight is 1070lbs according to the specs. So that gives me around 2000 extra lbs to play with lol but I got the GF to run out and look for sticker on the sled deck its rated for 1000lbs so probably not going to happen unless I can get it braced to support more. I am sure they can handle up to 1500lbs the sticker is probably just there to save their bums but why risk it. lol

A friend of mine built ramps in the back of his 2500 gmc for his ranger. It works really well.

Thats what I was going to do originally just remove the tail gate and have the rear tires on the bumper but then I found a deal on the sled deck so I was hoping it could sit on there.

I would think it would be fine on the deck. I have seen 3 jambed on one. The weight would be in the center.

Yeah thats probably true its probably the center weight and where the tires sit on the deck is right above the stands so should be ok. lol

Looks good. I'd run it. But I break everything I own (and something I don't) so don't listen to me.
haha I do too worth a shot i think ill drive slow its all paved roads anyway until we get unloaded.

That's some great info, but don't forget to account for Cab payload weight. So what does the GF weigh anyways? :wink_old:

1000lb capacity on the deck? That dont make sense. Two sleds without ice build up would overload it. The atv looks good up there. I'd run it without concern.

Front payload was 5000lbs if I remember correctly

Even two axys 150 somethings are over 1000 lbs with a full tank of gas. Forget snow, ice, or gear bag.

That capacity does seem low
That's what I thought I'll double check it when I get home Thursday maybe it's scuffed up and was read wrong?

I wouldn't worry about it Companies (even the automotive) grossly underrate everything

Those F 350's are mighty tough trucks. I think it will easily handle the load. The only thing I would be worried about would be the windshield and roof of the UTV catching too much air and damaging it.
I have a cover that goes over it anyhow and i am not going to be driving 100mph loaded with the RZR and trailer lol.

your deck probably was 1000KG... if made in canuckville... not 1000lbs capacity
That could be too

Well I checked and it does say 1000lbs but I think it's the ramp capacity not the actual deck lol I can't find anything else as I bought it used maybe the sticker was ripped off? I can't find an STF website wondering if they changed their name to truck boss because that website comes up when I google STF sled decks?

Ramp at 1000lbs seems legit. All the decks I have looked at are close to 1800 lbs for cap, and that's for the cheap ones.

another thing to consider is how you strap it down.

If the SxS's suspension has its full movement, any pot hole won't cause a fraction of an impact load as it you put 1,000 lbs of plywood or bricks up there.
yeah was looking into super clamps or even tire bonnet straps to keep the suspension free.
