Starting for the season

I normally take my sled to my dealer and have him service it. I am sick of paying the money. So this year I am going to do it myself. Just wondering what everyone does to bring the sled back to life after the long summer?

Thanks,
Ryan

Take out of the trailer and into the garage. Sit on it and make engine noises...start it and smoke the whole house up...

I check the suspension for missing/loose/damaged parts
Change the chaincase oil if it's filthy
check plugs and compression
scotchbrite the clutch surfaces
make sure all the lights work
check skis/springs/skags
Check track tension (by eye)
Add fresh fuel
rinse it off and call it good.

clean carbs thoroughly, check over the rear skid, and grease everything, even the zerks under the exhaust pipe(easy to forget) clean clutch faces, check carb boots/reeds. remove and clean RAVE valves, wash and wipe down everything look in all compartments to make sure nothing made a home in there. Check over the brake throttle kill switch and dess action make sure everything still moes and works well. check ski alignment, carbides, lights, I am sure I forgot something but pretty much go over everything, Oh yeah check belt tension and belt adjust secondary if needed.

Buddee if you open your hood and stand on either side of the sled reach your hand under the pipe towards the ski you can't miss them they are hard to get to with the pipe installed but can be done I usually have the wife pump the grease gun while I reach under and hold the tip on these are the only grease fittings on the rev for the front suspension. There is one on each side

Where under the pipe are these nipples?

They are for the steering stem. They are commonly forgotten.

Ok that is basically what I was thinking. Anything else that you guys can think of?

Thanks,
Ryan
The only things that I didn't see covered were checking your idler wheel bearings. testing your coolant, and inspecting the brake pads.

^^ Brakes you mean sleds have brakes??? J/k sorry thought that checking over the rear skid would include that but you are right we should ahve been more descriptive.
Ya I'm 300+lbs. So I'm hard on bearing and I need as much ROOLL as possible

If you own an 03 like I doo, your pre-season goes like this.

1. Clean Carbs - Change cracked boots - say f-it and install vforce III's instead.

2. Clean Raves. - Notice lots of black gunk - figure out what oil you are going to switch to this year. Dump your Amsoil in the woodstove.

3. Check compression - a little low on the PTO side - buy Cudney Rings. Call Bill and order a head - you seemed to be overheating alot last season.

4. Rings come in - tear top end apart - just as you guessed, your rings are flaking. Thank god you found a set on Dootalk. Find a bunch of gouges in piston, what caused that? Call Bill Cudney - Better take a closer look.

5. Tear down bottom end - OH MY GOD! - Replace PTO seal, replace bad crank bearing. May as well just replace whole crank. Bill is getting sick of your e-mails by now.

6. Clean up ports - get it breathing a bit easier.

7. Re-assemble engine. Don't try to get a hold of Bill, he has call display and blocked your e-mails.

8. Re-mortgage your house - buy a tank of gas.

9. Go for a rip, it should pull like a freight train!

10. Put it away till next season.
