Interesting, I guess Doos are pretty heavy after all.

...wow

A renegade 850 is only 20 lb off a sidewinder?! By that math the 900r would weigh more than the sidewinder...

Why do the doos have something like 70lb MORE wet weight? Surely it's a similar amount of gas and coolant that a polaris?

Very interesting. I'm surprised at how much more the 4S weighed than the other Polaris sleds. A little shocked to see how much more Ski Doo weighs than the Polaris sleds.
Great to see the real numbers, crazy the differences between the top 2 brands and Polaris has 2 gallon bigger tank.

How is an XRS 8 pounds wet heavier than a Blizzard?

It’s not. XRS with SS is 24lbs heavier than the Blizzard. The column on the right is the difference between published dry weight and wet weight.

It’s all about options and features. They weighed a Sidewinder LTX SE, which is one of the lightest SW’s made. A SW with IQS and EPS would be much heavier.

Just like a renegade Adrenaline would be much lighter than an XRS with SS. Bracing, rack steering, and SS all add up to a weight penalty.

Yes I know, how is the wet weight difference 8 pounds more on a Blizzard? They take the same fluids.

Why is skidoo so far ahead of the others in the "Dry/Wet Difference" column, as they have the top 3? Has me wondering how truthful skidoo's dry weight numbers really are???

i was questioning that too as well, that said, i was out riding with a buddy that has a 2018 XRS 850 and the front end of the machine weighs as much as my 1200, either Snowtrax is lying or doo is, but either way my 1200 renegade on scales with all my accessories, filled with gas is 640lbs, seems pretty off when you think about the advertised dry weights of each sled

i'm having a hard time believing the fuel tanks are full in the weights. makes sense that they carry about 100-120 lbs of fluids, between oil, coolant, gas. 40L fuel is about 80 lbs, 2 gallons of coolant 20lbs, a gallon of oil 10lbs.

it should be a few lbs, like i said i have a hard time believing these have full tanks of fuel. its not like and MXZ vs renegade has a gallon more of coolant in them

Edit: the Blizzard has a kimpex rack plate and adaptors on it, probably accounts for the difference in weight. but the XRS dry weight i don't think takes into account the smart shocks system and the gauge, so that could be a factor there, the Blizzard would still be off a bit given the lack of them though

The fluids are never going to add up to 100lbs.

The below is the info from snowtrax put into a table and sorted by weight. My suspicion is that 'difference' which snowtrax provided is the delta between their measured wet weight and the manufactures published dry weight. This was likely done intentionally to point out how silly the doo published dry weights really are. The new information below is the 'other' weight which is the 'difference' weight published by ST minus the actual weight of the fuel (6.3lbs/gallon for gasoline adjusted for actual capacity). 'Other' in this case is likely options over the bare chassis. There are some anomalies here however. The 650 indy somehow weighs only 9lbs less wet than the 850 but the 'difference' weight is quite a bit larger, this is likely also due to a low published dry weight for that model, leaving the little indy at -7 lbs of 'other' weight. To correct an above comment, the winder was not an SE, it was an LE with EPS and IQS shocks, it is in fact the model from their review video www.youtube.com/watch?v=pbOu1aSSrEI

All in, still very interesting data. The only real eye opener here is the NA S4 Indy being so heavy.

I did the calculation regarding the wet weight for a Summit Expert in another thread on here, based on the fluid volumes listed in the workshop manual.

The fuel, coolant, two stroke oil, chaincase oil and brake fluid all added up to 86 lbs. There was no information about the exact volume of shock absorber oil, but ”guesstimating” 4 lbs would mean the Summit Expert carries close to 90 lbs of various fluids.

Personally, I would trust the wet weight numbers already published by Snowest more than anything that comes from Snowtrax.

See Snowest on Instagram, for instance.

I dont think ST is lying. I think DOO has always lied about their weights and have for years. The SS shocks are heavier, but not as much as I thought. I always new Polaris was pretty close to their weights even with a 2 gallon bigger fuel tank. The Yamaha seems about right, but the motor is heavy and you feel it on the front. I wish they would have weighed an XRS 900R gade. That would have been interesting against the Yamaha. Based on the other inflated weights from DOO, I would NOT be surprised that the Yamaha is lighter than the XRS 900R.

maybe their new sleds, i know mine is not the case, Doo advertises the XS 1200 renegade X at 518 and all fueled up, with all my accessories, items(tool kits, tow rope, water, extra clothes) i carry comes in at 640lbs and thats with QAS and TS skis

The Sidewinder is actually an LTX LE, with Kashima piggy back shocks all around and EPS....they were wrong in the description, but corrected it on the chart at the end of the video. So its definitely NOT the lightest Sidewinder by any means. I'm willing to bet the sidewinder weighs less than 900R....ANY 900R, not just the XRS. Very eye-opening!

If they put a long front arm rear suspension in the Sidewinder, It would transfer better and feel lighter.

I have a Thundercat without power steering and electronic shocks (best case scenario for Thunderwinder weight). It's startling how much heavier it is than my 2022 XCR and 2023 Boost Vr1 when moving it in and out of the shop on the dolly. I can easily move the Polaris sleds myself, but usually need help with the Thundercat.
