St Ignace is too close to the lake. They NORMALLY have much less snow than inland areas like Newberry or wherever. I was just in Hurley and Houghton, and Hurley is JUNK, and Houghton is the only area we found to ride. Its good North of Houghton, and also up to about 30 miles South of Houghton. Its great 40 Miles west of Houghton too. So its kind of a small area to ride, but the snow there is GREAT as it gets.
I'm not saying St. Ignace is unredable, because I wasn't there but its usually really low on snow. Go to Houghton, or also the Ispeming area sounded ok too.
I was through St Ignace and they got about 3 inches of snow on Monday, It is rideable and have heard that the Rail Grade out of town to Trout lake is in good shape. Go to the trail Cond forum on this site there is a discussion on St Ignace with more FIRSTHAND reports. Kevin
